Would you buy this shotgun?
bullmastiff replied to danebrewer10's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Only ever used one double trigger shotty, it was my fathers and fractionally too long for me, when firing the front trigger, the trigger guard used to dig into the skin between my fingers so after several shots it started becoming sore. Strangely enough this improved my shooting as I was always loath to use the front trigger therefore making me concentrate on my first shot properly! since then I've used several differant guns (sbs, ou, sa) but all with single triggers as doubles make me flinch with the shot. -
Great, thank you

I'll be there Sunday, not far from me and always a good day out. I'm sure you'll all recognise Tia before me in her day glow Strongstuff collar, so say hello! and I'm hoping to show Roo if he heals up in time. Might seem a bit strange to most if they hear us all calling each other by our usernames! Maybe Ian should get some THL name badges made! Does anyone have a list of the classes and times? Cheers Luke

A guy at work has one, and I quite liked the look of it, very small, square (about the size of a Suzuki SJ), capable looking offroader. Was just wondering is it was actually any good off road? and about MPG, etc. you'd get from it? Cheers luke

I know very little about running dogs mate lol but lots of people go on about 'tight feet' being good, I think it means they'll get less foot related injuries? -
Slow cooker, what a dam good invention
bullmastiff replied to fraggle's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
Next best invention to the slow cooker??? the Auto function on a slow cooker!!! automatically drops to low heat after a set period!!! Wouldn't be without it! Harrycatcat, thats the trouble with pressure cookers, it force the stock into the food but not much of the flavour has time to escape! We prepare everything the night before and dump it all in the removable pot in the fridge. Just before going to work, take it out, put it on auto and come back to the best dinners ever! from stock, stew, soups, chilli to hotdogs they all work! Well worth the money! (and you can pick them up quite che -
Depends what area your in, just look for the buds starting to form and you won't go far wrong.

Is it one of those old Welsh leisurecentre's? not sure as it's not tied to a lamp post LOL I'll go with a Cotswold by the look of it's legs?

I presume that's what would be refered to as 'tight feet' the main pads almost pulled off the floor in every photo LOL! Cracking looking bitch, hope she brings you many good days and nights. Cheers Luke. -
I'd never dream of calling Roo 'a true working Bull X' as he only gets worked one day a week, were out almost every Sunday come rain or shine on the lamp and as some on here can verify, he will take anything I put in front of him. The other 6 days he gets walks/runs around the park and local fields sniffing corgi pee like the family pet he is. We've now started entering him in the lurcher shows and races for a bit of fun as it keeps him fit, he seems to enjoy it guessing by his wagging tail on the jog back and my family get to see him running (their usually tucked in bed! lol). I see noth

Compared to my two, Big & Ugly and Even Bigger & Uglier, yours can't be that bad surely!!! LOL Just get yourself one of those thin string leads to hook behind it's ears, constantly fiddle with it's feet and Hey presto a show dog!

Well done mate, I'm glad she made a complete recovery! Cheers Luke.

Being something I've unfortunately never seen nor likely to see anymore, I've only got youtube to watch the courses but by christ their amazing! It must of been a sight to behold, dog and hare flat out! especially if it's your dog!!! Your some lucky guys! There's a couple on youtube of some Spanish semi finals that are well worth a watch, as there are no hedges or ditches, they cover incredible distances in the 4-5mins that their coursing I can't get my head around a coursing dog (or Hare for that matter!) that could run flat out for 8-10 mins!! Averaging 30mph for 5 mins is 2 1/2 miles!!!

Thank you for explaining v-max. Cheers Luke

If it's young, then there's not a lot of point in hanging it is their? the meat will be really tender anyway (I thought this was the main reason to hang meat) and the flavour won't mature that much in a youngster will it? Personally I'd get it eaten now and enjoy it!!! Cheers Luke

Personally I think getting within 20-25 yds of a Rabbit (without sneaking through a hedge or round a corner) is really good going, Hares from the few I seen, seem to be either too easy to get within range (just walk up to them) or almost bloody impossible!!! (bolting when you get within 100yds of them) Just a quick question for the guy's who are shooting quarry at 60-70-80yds, I presume your not using rangefinders (as their quite expensive) to get the range of the shot quarry, so do you carry 100yd tape on you whilst out or are you just counting your paces???
-
Ridiculous length shots at any quarry are the sort of thing I used to do when I was a kid. Now I prefer to see how close I can get to them before they bolt, I'm not starving for food or desperate to kill something for bragging rights. 12 yards from a rabbit in the open and 3-4 yds to a Woodie in a tree being my best so far, I got to within 7yds of a rabbit once but as I lowered my head to the scope for the shot it scarpered! Try practicing your fieldcraft kids

If the dogs happy with the training your giving it, and it still gets lots of praise then I don't see why the age matters? Theres trainers with 8 month old dogs running in FT and doing well? my fathers Springer Spanial matured quickly and was good so he was fully trained to voice, whistle and hand signals at distance. he could stop him, then send him left, right, back or return to heel by a year old. Sit your dog down, walk away a few paces, and call it. as it trots towards you tell it sit using the hand signal at the same time (which it probably won't do), walk towards it and return it to

Google 'Fish Flex', identical Cephalexin pill you get from the vets for your dogs (broad spectrum antibiotic) but as it's for fish you don't need a presription Tia's alergic to amoxicillan so can't use it on her, it makes her violently sick.

It'll be nice to see you down our end of the island!, I'll keep an eye out for all the fit staffies! Cheers Luke.
