  1. The reason you keep getting them back is because the off-the-shelf Shampoo only kills the ones on the dog at that time so their still in the bedding plus it won't kill the eggs so 6-8 days later your back to square one!. I used to use Frontline but have now swapped to Advocate pippets as this also prevents fungal infections on the skin. ( Mange, Ring worm etc.) I apply it in three spots, back of the head, between shoulder blades and base of the tail. This treats the dog for at least a month (I can usually leave it 3 month's to be honest) and soaks into the skin so when the flea bites them
  2. Did you just inform a young man of your w*nking habits!
  3. Don't be tight! trying to get him to format his hard Drive! lol
  4. Not at all A, mines a bit heavy for Rabbits but can and will catch them on the lamp. We usually only get 3 runs a night if were lucky and he'll usually catch two of them. To be honest it's more like watching a slowed down version of Hare coursing for me!!! he's more than quick enough in a straight line just can't turn quick enough for rabbits so end's up having really long courses on rabbits which is fine by me, keeps him fit and gives me a really good show on the lamp!
  5. Must be an amazing feeling, congrats on the Bucks. To copy everyone elses sentiments that was a great write up, thank you! and well done FD for taking the guy out! Cheers Luke.
  6. I know nothing about the guy it's aimed at but who ever wrote that song has a lyrical gift!
  7. I've met Topper's black Bitch in the flesh and she's a lump of a dog! VERY well toned and has a head like a Breeze block! She was both friendly and calm with Tia, my Bulmastiff, Roo my BullX and with my 3 yr old daughter. For weights both my dogs are about 70lb mark but Roo's an inch taller at 25"tts, she was about the same height roughly as Tia but bigger in the shoulders, neck and head. (not something I ever thought I'd see!) I can't comment on their speed but meeting Topper a few times, he doesn't seem to be the type to take shit OR talk it, so if he says their quick I'd tend to belie
  8. Depends on the missus and wether she's working or not but hopefully I'll be able to come. Sounds like it's going to be a good day out.
  9. It was a cracking night, I was sat at home bored and saw it advertised in the local paper so thought bugger it, I knew it would be a nice drive down and my daughter loves the hunt shows as everyones so friendly. They were running a tout on the races, so you could make a bit of money back on your dog! Terriers, family dogs then Lurcher races were held in several heats in groups of five ,uphill over about 120yds. Tia my 7yr old Bullmastiff won the family dogs! she was racing against a GSD, a labrador, a spanial and a pointer of some sort. not only did she beat them but she then retrieve
  10. Terrier, Lurcher and Family dog racing tonight starting at 6.30pm at the South Dorset Hunt kennels, Blandford Rd, Bere Regis, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 7JH‎ should be a good craic hopefully. Cheers Luke.
  11. I don't know about the Ferrets catching human flu but I've had Ferrets with Cat flu before. They lose complete control of their limbs and the faeces is just running out of them. The vet told me to let him PTS but I kept them in my bedroom in a toy box full of shreded paper and hand fed them sugery watered down milk and liqudised cat food every two to three hours, day and night for just over a week. My mum kept complaining about the smell and that I was bunking school for "Those damn ferrets". but I refused to give up on them as I was only 11 at the time and they were my first pets. Then one
  12. Wouldn't mind meeting a few like minded people! Beer for us older airgunners and lemonade for the little'uns i'm in South Somerset. I don't have lots of rabbits though at the moment!
  13. If it's deer your after then a racing whippet isn't going to be much use! Have you tried driving them from the cover? slip the dog from the wood behind them? only way they can go is out into the field? We use the Farmers son to walk the cover quietly so quarry leaves usually by the same routes across the field. Find yourself a quiet spot and wait for the quarry to come to you.
  14. did you watch the vid after that one? LMAO!!! The look on that Labs face, 'F*ck you! and your mother!'
  15. Cracking story mate, although I've been into shooting for years I also got my first running dog about 12 months ago, and I'm also hooked like you!!! it's a great sport! Good on Sam Ward for taking a newbie under his wing as well I hope you have many happy years with Derry. Cheers Luke.
  16. If its only done Reds so far, then it's going to be running hard and fast trying to smash in to the prey, which is great for red but useless for rabbits. It'll have to learn a new technique for running things that small and that can turn that fast! just give it time and let the dog learn its new quarry. As for pulling on the slip, I think any breed will if you let them, just a question of training to walk to heel. Only time Roo pulls is when theres a set of eyes glowing in the beam. Other than that, he walks quietly by my side. Most of all just get out there with him and have fun! you'll
  17. quality's cr*p!!! but thats me, not the camera! I'll try and post one when I get home. Were still trying to work out a way of attaching a second light to the camera.
  18. I've been trying to get decent videos of the dogs lamping, and the biggest thing I've found so far is to attach a light to the camera and not too tight a beam on it either, otherwise it is pure white in the centre of the vid and you miss most of the run. Every time I've tried filming, it has been with someone else on the lamp, so it's hard to keep it in the centre of shot. I'm using a Sony miniDV handicam we got cheap off Ebay about (£100)
  19. I believe that dogs must not only be kept on leads but under strict control whilst crossing private land. I'd guess that the same people have regularly let their dogs off to run in that field and have never been corrected about it. As your parthers working in the field anyway get him to tell them politely then also erect a larger sign on the stile.
  20. Well went along to the show and had a good day out, beautiful weather, couldn't take Tia as she's in season so missed all the family dog classes, LOL would of been the only marked up Family dog there LOL Sat around patiently and waited after the Nº11 class "Rabbiting dogs" went, then it was the Class Nº12 "Working class, including bull X" came around. A lady with a big trailer that had entered a different dog in every class rolled in and won it. there was only two dogs that looked like they could do let alone had done a days work in it's life and Roo was one of them, did they place...
  21. I just phoned Eddie Stiles, apparently it's after the showing.
  22. Might be a bit late to ask, I know the judging starts at 2pm but what time does the racing start? Cheers Luke.
  23. Just looked up the address on Google maps, it's only 40 miles away but will take over an hour to get there!! lol Might come along though just for a craic and show some support. Would it still be ok to bring the dogs along, as Roo still has a few stitchs to come out? if so I'll see you there! Cheers Luke
  24. Trying to see if your dog is changing in shape/size visually is quite difficult, as you see them every day! Try using a tape measure and take some readings of her belly, chest, neck, etc do it the same everytime and you should start to notice any differance's?
  25. Looks like you had a really enjoyable day I just can't get my head around the amount of rabbits you have up there! lol I think that Terrier of yours, Blaze is a little cracker. Cheers Luke.
