  1. So whos just bought all 5 books that were left then! lol
  2. Not a bad Idea! alcorcan near Madrid. Think their season ends soon though doesn't it? Bloody hell, this topic is 5 yrs old! have I been here that long already Just rewatched that clip and it is a bloody long slip he gives them, it takes them over a 1:20mins to put the first turn on the hare!!!
  3. A while back you were looking to breed your two dogs together, why the change of heart? they both sound like they do their jobs well. Good luck with the search, must admit I've always liked that dog of yours and have been looking at that breeding for my next dog. Find a nice 1/4collie 1/4bull 1/2grey bitch to put him over and I'll take one!! lol
  4. Sounds like the beginnings of a long and fruitful partnership You just need to learn how to cook the damn things now! lol
  5. Met a few guys (and gals) from here and I must of been lucky as everyone of them I met have been good, honest, people. Some I now count as friends and either chat to or meet up with regularly and others I've only met the once but wouldn't hesitate to meet up with again. I didn't know anyone into hunting with dogs before coming on this site, so it's helped me hugely, not just meeting people but through people sharing their knowledge. If you can get through the bitching and bravado on some parts of this site then there's a good chance you'll meet up with some real decent folk
  6. Would love to try pig/deer dogging in Nz or Aus but as you said Biglurks, you've got to know people that do it in the first place. Rake aboot, I've been to Scotland once before and got bit to sh*t by the midges! and was scared to let the dog off, too many reds about and far too many hikers with camera's to watch!! lol Saluqihounds, I would love to try hunting on horseback!!! Wouldn't it be expensive to arrange though? There was a guy on here that posted a few videos of walking the dogs through some hills on Horseback. That sort of thing would be awesome for a holiday! it's just again f
  7. Will be heading out for a mooch about in a few hours. Was out Tuesday night with a friend for a few runs and we managed 1 and 1, so going for a mooch tonight to see what else is about a bit more local.
  8. Currently using a Sony Handicam, DCR-SX45E. 70x optical zoom with a decent anti shake function. It also recognises whether it's night/day, sunshine, electric lights, spotlights etc. I'm impressed with it so far. Most newer digital camcorders with a half decent optical zoom will be able to film a nights lamping with fairly decent results. I've found the more important thing to do is hold the lamp below/above the camcorder itself so it will follow the lamp as you pan around following the action and staying in focus. If your using a lamp with a real tight beam and your runs are usually fairl
  9. Not the sort of Dogging holiday I was after!!! My dad owns a small hotel near Karon Beach in Phuket so can go there any time I like Hence the reason I was looking for a hunting holiday rather than a two week long binge that all I've got to remember for it, is a F*cked liver and an itch.... lol
  10. The missus went off to Spain with her friends this year so I'm free to choose myself a holiday destination this new year, free of wife, kids etc. Where would you go? The dog has a passport too so could head over to Europe hunting or maybe jump on a plane and head somewhere more exotic on my own? I'm not one to sit on my arse drinking the weeks away so, Where would you go if you had a 'free hall pass'?
  11. Sounds like a good night out and the pups coming on well!! Just sounds like a puppy attitude? What's the rush with you carrying the rabbit? If he wants to carry it then let him!! It is HIS prize, He caught it not you.... He just needs to learn that by handing it over to you he can swap it for a better prize, be it praise, treat, whatever. Don't forget, although most dogs like a ruffled ear and a 'good dog' doesn't mean it's a noteworthy prize to them (they can get that any time they lean against your leg or nudge their head under your hand) All dogs are different in what they deem a wo
  12. The Gillie suit goes over your normal all-weather gear. It's purely for camoflage (just to break up your outline and blend you in with the surrounding terrain). Their really designed to be used in a stationary postion, if you try to stalk in one you'll more than likely get snagged up in everything as you move!
  13. I disagree with the comment on they cant handle certain work constantly as i can show u mine and u put it nxt to any half cross n it will stay. I lamp invetween 2-5 times a week n for about 5 hrs n yes they have b fit as u dnt want a tired dog findin itself on summit n its too tired but i go with lads with half crosses etc etc n most of them do the same as mine but jus more power. Its not the size of a dog its its commitment n heart to do it. I won't diagree with you, I'm sure a good one will match most other dogs at it, Their just harder to find I was more pointing out that the bu
  14. It shows the muscles off better in the sunlight, therefore winning more shows.....
  15. That's not a wish list, just a well bred 3/8bullx or a 1/4bullx Dogs for jobs though, and the dog you just described can't handle certain work consistently enough for some. Hence the reason line bred half crosses are used. They breed fairly fast dogs with big strong heads for a reason...
  16. Is sat reading 'The Green Hills of Africa' by Ernest Hemingway on his new Kindle 3g!! Look at me stepping into the 21st century!!

Just have a flick through.
  18. Lovely looking dog, do you work him at all? Whats's he like on longer legged quarry? Do you think he could of possibly taken Roe before the ban came in force? If you were closer I'd get you to bring it out... If you fancy a Holiday down south sometime, give us a shout...
  19. I guess Tess is fairly racey, basically for a 5/8 bull 3/8 grey cross. She was slow to mature, her first year and a half she spent training and chasing swallows or shadows around the fields. Finally started chasing and catching Rabbits with enthusiasm, then progressed on to watching and helping on a few others, finally catching her own during the summer month's. I haven't really stopped during the summer month's and continued to hunt her through until autumn until she picked up an injury, then went into her season.... So far she hasn't seen as much as I'd like, but she's
  20. You could always send another one down south! We like the scottish girls down here.....
  21. its not the size of the dog in the fight pal....... But a good big dog will still beat a good small dog.... ( not saying that the Stags would actually do it!)
  22. Your welcome and more than welcome to come back any time. Was a pleasure to meet you and that cracking bitch of yours, lovely condition, well trained, biddable but a heart that really shouldn't fit in that slimline chest of hers!!! Hope she was ok when you got back? At least we know which area to head to for next time! As I said at the time, it's new permission so still working out where everything is really, seems to have every quarry all on one farm. Certainly a lot of activity so should be some good sport in the future! Definately have to get her out on the lamp, I'd like to see h
  23. Training isn't just to get the dog to do more for you, it's about teaching the dog that you can help them hunt too... Hunting together, not as individuals will always be more effective Same as things like "Castrating will cure aggression problems" Some ideas are best left in the past
  24. Those Yotes are about the size of our running dogs! lol Guess your stags wouldn't struggle too much taking our dogs down either
  25. No offence taken Simple answer is yes she does but she's basically a pet that I work though. She's never seen large numbers(as we don't really have them round my way) so wouldn't know if she was capable or not? 12 runs on Rabbits is a really good night round my way. Before her lay up she should of got most of them. As I said further up she's usually pretty good on the rabbits and has decent turning ability and strike. Other stuff more in keeping with her size and cross isn't worth discussing on an open forum but she hasn't needed help or quit yet. A few members from on here have seen her w
