Hi longrange just got back from borders been feeding ponds and burns and topping up feeders in the woods came back early as the forecast wasn't good so did'nt take dogs or guns kinda wished we had now as weather not that bad . some would say a walk out with the dog and gun and only bagging 1 bird ain't worth it but i think thats real hunting working the dog and taking your chance when it comes, woodcock are a special little bird and to bag them is a thrill not many get and its a bigger thrill to get some thing you and your dog have worked at, its these types of days when the size of the bag

FIREWORKS!!! argh!! Anyone else struggling with their animals tonight?

My dogs arn't gunshy but don't like the screaming noises that some fireworks make i keep the dogs in there box in the back of the landy until 9ish then feed them and bed them down in there sleeping box outside in the run i have a door on the sleeping box and this is the only time of year i close it i think it gives the dogs a sense of security because they soon settle down (this may be that the sounds are muffled and that they cannot see any flashes) don't know but it works. ps it seems to me that the explosion noises are exagerated with double glazing .because i used to try and settle dogs -
ther's more to life than work sounds like the kind of retirement i want

This happend to a pal i used to go ferreting with he came off field after a morning ferreting as he drove out of gate a police car past and then did a U turn and followed pal into farm yard police asked pal what had he been doing in fields as he had a report of someone catching rabbits pal says yep been ferreting polis what did you do with rabbits pal say i kill them.polis askes to see in car boot so pal opens boot and out jumps his dogs polis nearly s**ts himself pals nearly wetting himself polis not happy starts to get heavy where do you live here on the farm says pal can you proove it yes j

i'am not a gardener but i try to grow most veg also have apple , plum , and pear trees the soft fruit goes a long way in filling up the freezer rasps, loguns tays and blackcurrents i don't know about others but i have good years and bad this year the veg has been poor but had a good crop of fruit .also keep a few hens.I Swap rabbits and pheasants for fish with a fisherman who dos'nt like fresh water fish but likes to catch them!.

starting to feel abit lonley on here a was thinking there where lots of people who hunted with dog and shotgun out there but just noticed we have only three pages on here don't be scared of tinternet you'v got this far with computer try putting sumit on here but not who likes some kind of music or what the best coluor scarf to go with me eyes hunting tales or whats made it a good day for you has the dog done good have you shot like a f****y make it up or summit. how fast is motor turning over?if it's sluggish and bat ok check engine earth straps and then you can check starter motor. the brushes or bearings may be worn if so starter will be heating up and draining battery. as it' alraedy been said the fords do have a problem with the fiter housing/pump. hope this helps.

try www.otom.com. i use these no chemicals just a hook and they realy work won't prevent ticks but will remove them head/mouth parts come out with body. cost approx £4 got mine from vets very handy to carry when out in the field .

Started out today to have a walk/stand pheasant shoot but by 11am we decided to stop because of the high winds, the woods got to dangerous to go through and the birds stood a chance of wing damage when flushed. Weather forcast right for a change.

did this with an ess get someone to bolt rabbits with ferret have dog close to your side not sitting tie a long lead to his coller hold lead and when the dog goes after the bolting rabbit let him run for a few meters blow whistle and jerk him to a stop you must do this on a reguler basis untill the dog gets the message about the stop whistle before you try this get the dog used to the long lead arround his neck for approx a couple of weeks put it on take it off at different times this is to try and stop him from associating the lead with the stop command but to take notice of the whistle.worke

Looks like a beutifull area no wind turbines elect pylons or opencast mining to be seen (Have you got influencial neighbours or is it you keeping this area as clean and tidy as your animals housing.) a real nice set up socks.

Dogs the bag for walk and stand days 25/30 mainly pheasants.shot by two teams of five.£55 a day A rough walked up day bag 20/30 mainly rabbits £25 a day. team from 4/10 guns. on both types of day their is the oppertunity to shoot partridge duck snipe woodcock and hares .hope this info helps only have a few days vacant

You didn't miss much to be honest, what a load of biased left wing shite. It made me remember why I don't bother watching BBC news very often these days. God knows mow many times they mentioned the word 'poachers.' They kept banging on about how hunting with dogs is illegal, no mention of it still being legal to take rabbits. Skip to me walked up hunting with dogs and shotgun is the best way to hunt i use english springer spanials to flush game no pointing just find and flush you get to read the dogs body language as they work out in front and to me part of the thrill is you don't know if the flush will be ground game or a bird i think thats why i miss so much or it could be i can't shoot straight but to be out all day working your dog taking a few head of game for the freezer is the best type of gun and dog work there is.This is what i call rough shooting.
