  1. although i quite like the trigger pull on the cz 452 i'd be happier if it was slightly lighter. obviously the eric brookes trigger kit is the best option but does anybody know a step by step process to cut a few coils off the spring to make it slightly lighter? any help would be greatly appreciated cheers, jack
  2. exactly. i have no doubt the sako quad is a great piece of kit. however, i couldn't personally justify the extra money it cost for the sako quad when the cz does everything i need it to. definitely a case of personal preference.
  3. i dont want to start a debate but i get 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards with remington 17g accutips through a cz 452 for considerably less money. if you can justify spending the extra money then why not? if not get a cz. i havnt heard any complaints about them in the time ive been on this site or the people ive spoken to. :good:
  4. i went out for a quick zero and a mooch this afternoon considering i still hadnt fully zeroed my rifle due to wind conditions on previous days. anyway i got it bang on at 100 yards then went for a quick walk. unfortunately i didnt see alot because its too bloody cold for rabbits (and me) to be out and about. i saw one rabbit though. ranged it at 112 yards and it got a perfect headshot. rabbit stew for dinner tonight then. i'll upload a picture later considering its my first rabbit with a rifle :clapper: jack
  5. i have a nikko sterling nighteater 4-16x50 with mil-dot reticle on my cz 452 style and it does just what i want it too. havnt had an oppurtunity to use it at night yet but during the day its great. looking at a rabbit at 267 yards it looked crystal clear. obviously shooting it at that distance was another thing. good optics you wont be disappointed
  6. bignoel, you will actually find that firearms laws and guidelines are significantly different depending where you live in the UK. i think thats what deker was implying with regards to laws. the DER wasnt needed if you feel you need to get into an argument then you're on the wrong site :bye:
  7. oh definitely i could do that with an air rifle let alone a .243 :clapper:
  8. i'd hazard a guess that personal preference is the big factor when deciding. have a look around and enquire. its best to see what you're most comfortable shooting with. if i were you i'd go to your local dealer and ask to handle the rifle you want. cz 452 is a good start
  9. glad to help mate. good luck. let me know how it goes jack
  10. i have a varied opinion on law enforcement my old man is a farmer and once every two years or so our farm gets raided by the diddies (sorry must be politically correct) travellers. during their last stop over they stole a ten ton trailer, a quadbike and numerous other pieces of expensive equipment. they also stole a ride on lawn mower which was completely broken so we had the last laugh. anyway we call the police and every single time absolutely nothing is done about it. we even gave the police the location of the camp in which we suspected everything was. the police are too bloody sc
  11. i have no experience with fac air rifles but i have a rimfire .17 hmr. you mentioned that its a long trip to your nearest dealer. remember that the terms of your fac depend on what your FEO feels you require regarding your situation. if you mention to your FEO how far away you live from your local dealer and how money will be an issue when getting to it regularly then he may grant you to buy and hold a very large amount of ammo. its no guarantee but if you have good reason for buying 1000 rounds at a time and holding 1500-2000 then its entirely possible. of course on a first grant you
  12. The science on this is EASY, Demonstrable and Repeatable...speed, weight and a calculater..there is no lead up these barrels and barrel length is dealt with before a speed measurement is taken...as the bullet has left the barrel by then....GROW UP or ...stick to air rifles and your back garden!!! TOLD :whistling: just out of interest Deker are you planning to become a member or just have a go firing one. can't be a cheap hobby. must be what...8-9 pounds a pop. i'd love to have a go. makes a .308 target rifle look like an air rifle. just remember some padding :clapper:
  13. i just went to my dealer to get 250 remmy 17g polymer tips for my .17 hmr. the last time i went which was about two weeks ago they cost £9.50 for a box of 50 which i thought was very good for what they were. today however they were £12. a box which i thought was extortionate another shooting buddy said that at his local dealer the price had increased as well. is it happening everywhere or are certain dealers feeling the credit crunch more than others? cheers, jack
  14. the cz 452 seems to be a very popular choice. i bought one about a month ago and its great for what i need. shooting sub to half inch groups at 100 yards is better than i had hoped for with a £350 rifle. i went for the 16" barrel. i dont have a huge amount of experience with rifles but i can tell you that you wont feel short changed.
  15. merry christmas to everyone i was out zeroing this morning. suprising considering the nature of last night. very happy with my rifle. i got it zeroed in at 100 yards and managed a 1/2 inch group with remington ballistic tips. very satisfied.
  16. finally bought my scope today so heres the full set up its a nikko sterling nighteater 4.16x50 with a buffalo river sling (thrown in for free ) and remington 17g ballistic tips, cci 20g soft points and federal 17g ballistic tips. bunny bashing here we come
  17. i bought my scope this afternoon. a nikko sterling nighteater 4-16x50. i had planned to get a falcon menace but there was a bit of a cock up so i went on a 100 mile round trip to collect this. the gun dealer even threw in a free sling. pics are up on the rifles topic jack
  18. ferret feller this debate is on a previous post. whats your problem with shooting hares?
  19. its the enhanced SLR mil-dot reticle mate. i didnt fancy anything too cluttered jack
  20. i reckon the biggest problem anyone has with shooting with a shotty is that they think about the shot too much. i often do it to but i try not to. the best advice to give is that you shouldnt think about the shot too much. if you do you're likely to miss. it should feel instinctive and you should feel confident about the shot before you take it thats my 2p's worth anyway. have fun tomorrow mate jack
  21. you're not wrong i just checked. theyre based in devon. for some reason i went to order my scope from there and it mentioned shipping to the UK so i automatically assumed America oh well my scope wasnt any cheaper there.
  22. i havnt had the oppurtunity to look through a zeiss before. ive had a look through a nightforce or two and its just incredible when comparing it with the glass i usually look through. as with everything you have to be able to justify spending that extra 300 quid on the zeiss. if you cant, then dont but if you feel that extra 300 quid will make the difference then go for it every time. jack
  23. what calibre did you use mate. a lil .22 rimmy yeah
