    unfortunately i no longer have the time available to justify keeping my remington .243. Although it was a fantastic buy ive only had the time to fire between 30 and 40 rounds through it.     i know a few of you use this combination and ive been away from home for ages so ive only just procured it. is it odd that it took almost 4 months for my local dealer to stock some hornady 87g bthp's? anyway ive got varget and those because i know a few of you on here use it to great effect so what combinations do you use? cheers, jack

    hi mate, im over oundle way. the local Feo is a good bloke. i get the impression however his boss does anything she can to prevent the open usage of firearms because ive had centrefire for over a year now, done a fair bit of shooting with it and they still wont give me an open cert. but oh well, very friendly and quick with the paperwork. atb with the move, jack

    i would but im waiting on some hornady 87g bthp bullet heads at the moment so i can work up a load for them. i only use the sst's because they kill and can get just under 1/2 moa at 100 yards which at the moment is perfectly acceptable for me. atb, jack

    up this morning at 3:30 got all my kit together and headed out into the dark. arrived at the high seat at around 3:40 picture was taken after i got down when it was getting light anyway sat up and waited, its intriguing listenung to the sound of the woods when nothing else is around. rabbits were hopping around underneath the high seat unaware of me watching over them. just as the sun was coming up a large doe popped out onto the ride to my left around 40 yards away, feeling the excitement building i slowly slid a round into the chamber, that bolt is F****ng noisy when nothing els

    ive been out the last couple of nights trying for a muntjac to no avail. anyway yesterday i found out weve got an old high seat in fox cover wood so i thought id go check it out. walked into the wood and straight away spooked a muntie which promptly dashed into the undergrowth. looking hopeful me thinks anyway i got up in the highseat which seemed to be well placed with a nice little view forward to the left right and the little bit behind the views dont go far because the wood is quite dense but its always full of muntjac and it was nice just sitting there listening

    no its just on the .243. ive had the .17 since 2 decembers ago and the .243 for just over a year. they said there wont be a problem taking the mentoring condition off but theyre probably going to be difficult about opening my cert up. not really sure why as i thought it was general consensus that after a year of having a certificate if you ask it to be opened up more often than not they will

    i had my feo come over this morning to talk about the removal of my mentoring condition and opening of my certificate. it seems the mentoring condition will be saying farewell however he said the boss may be reluctant to open my certificate based on how much ive shot. now ive had at least 1500 rounds through the .17hmr and about 100 through the .243 i didnt think it would be much of a problem but clearly theyre getting stricter. we also had a chat about the cumbria tragedy and it seems theyre being very cautious. if you get caught fighting the police will now be straight around your house. see

    cheers ft thats pretty much what i had in mind. well hopefully ill be getting a couple of new permissions soon both with roe on, and neither with a huge need for management. however i think it would be interesting over the next 10 or so years to watch the genetics of the lot change. see if i can get a large percentage of good quality bucks. i was actually going to start a new topic about this but as i didnt get asked to do a dsc before i got a deer condition and i still cant afford to do one does anyone know any good websites to gain some good knowledge or even videos?

    Depends what you use them for. Are you weighing every charge or do you just use them to calibrate a powder dispenser? If the former then it probably isn't goong to speed up your loading and if that latter then why go to something less accurate? Electrnic scales are all very well but the 0.2 grain accuracy of those ones is not desperately impressive. Normal beam-balance scales are calibrated in 0.1 grain increments but, in reality, are actually far more accurate than that as you can see a variation by even the thickness of the indicator line - if you see what I mean.
