    I actually heard shotguns earlier Eddie,was out walking around the lake at the back of the house before breakfast,loads of skeins of geese in the air and heard someone shooting them,wouldn’t be difficult to get an invite,fishing for crappies next week,going to hire an ice fishing cabin for the day with the guy I salmon fish with when the river freezes over,but apart from that plans are always flexible,you just never know what’s going to pop up.

    Was over in Quebec yesterday,saw a couple of signs warning of bear in the area.Years ago I saw a sloth bear,I was told they attack for little reason,they attack the face (apparently)I saw footage of a couple of cops shooting one that had killed three people.

    Yes gaz,the only places I ever saw porcupine in the wild was India and Pakistan,an old bloke told me there was one down the trail but all I spotted was the raccoons,I don’t think ‘Er indoors would appreciate me lugging a porcupine into the kitchen,I would have a go at eating one though.

    Got to be honest it was fantastic,I got some footage but it’s on my laptop in the UK,but going close to mountain rock faces and it was windy and I knew the pilot as I had met him in another country so knew his fear of heights I did have a “why am I even here?” moment.

    The gyro was a little two man job,the pilot didn’t want to go above 400 feet,I actually asked can’t we get altitude,he said if something happens I would rather be lower than higher,it was a foggy day in a steep sided rock floored valley.

    There was a bloke set off from UK maybe 15 years back in a microlight to fly to Australia,he crashed and died in the channel,I was going to buy one as they can take off and land in a short stretch,I was going to fly across the channel for sightseeing without going through Dover. yup,the only time I ever had a “What the f**k am I doing with my life” moment in a light aircraft was a gyrocopter (with a pilot who was scared of heights) going up a steep sided Nepalese mountain valley,if something had happened it would have been sayonara.

    The best microlight flight I ever took was in the Himalayas,absolutely breath taking.I flew with a bloke in Thailand who was teaching a Chinese lady,his engine cut out and he managed to glide into a school field,he was a cool bloke so very calm,she thought it was part of the lesson.

    The bloke who loaned me the suit had sold a microlight a few years previously to a bloke who had a couple of lessons,only a couple,then took it up solo stalled at a thousand feet or so,he died.

    I borrowed a flying suit once for a microlight course,Hungarian goose down filling,supposedly the best down available,never been so warm in a microlight,even went through a snowfall at 4500 feet I think it was,been trying to find a Hungarian down jacket for this winter,the jacket I just bought has a down filling and will serve purpose,just not quite as good.
