  1. Terrible news for the family. Ok Chris, how do we action this??
  2. Definately in favour of compulsory basic training (like for mororbikes) before buying an air weapon or using one without supervision, certificate to be carried when out and about. Should include a bit about quarry too. Just my thoughts, good debate!
  3. Is there a "good reason" clause in that?
  4. No, youre doing it right.....only need to cock it if it is completely empty..... i.e. NOTHING in it. Don't ask me why this is though!
  5. Tunnel on a Kania .... obviously a pro! Good pictures!
  6. What are the surrounding areas like? When it's dry, i've found the moles move back into the hedges/fence line, then, spell of rain, they reappear after the worm. ..... Anyway, you got paid!
  7. Had the same problem, new brick of them now appear ok. Duff batch i recon.
  8. All sounds a bit odd....If he leases the stalking, how can he then allow other shooters on the land? I'm sure the stalkers would be none to happy to have someone else mooching about. Perhaps he is suggesting you join their syndicate?
  9. I will mate. I'm going to try out the Edgar Bros scope on mine - need to get a better view of the target. The Hawke is ok at 30yds, but after that the view is a bit vague.
  10. ....Hmmm, think I'll ditch the Hawke scope on my CZ now!
  11. Good call, start with the ferret, it will all follow on from there. Got to point out though, if youre going for permission, you got to promise to be there one/twice a month at least with farmers, and make sure you are there too! I've spoken to quite a few who have people turn up all keen for about a month, then tail off and just turn up when they think there is more quary about. Very important to maintain your permission, or else you find someone else there who is a bit more reliable.
  12. Good advice, take it! Was going to fit one to mine, but will try out the mallet thing.
  13. There was a good article in the BASC mag about shooting winged stuff ...... possibly a couple of issues back. Quite amazing how far ahead of a flying bird you have to aim. Try and find someone with a copy.
  14. Very near, what sort of ranges they got?....have been toying with the idea of joining because whenever i try to zero there are too many people about/windy/wet etc.
  15. Another 50 winchester down my new 452, no problems!! Teething problems, settling in??? Arcpest, what shooting range do you use?
  16. I just got to enter next year!
  17. There is only ONE way to get quality, healthy worms.... After rain, find a "wormey" spot, put a fork in the ground and wiggle it forwards and backwards.....worms will sprint out of the soil. I had to do this for a living for a while, works every time!!
  18. I think the RSPCA and the RSPB are both very good organisations in their field. I would happily donate if they didnt try and put pressure on country persuits. Without shooting sports, gamekeepers and farmers, there would be no countryside as we know it. How about your estate sets up some posts dotted around, with fresh rabbit on top for the raptors - on a regular basis? Headlines..." Local estate spearheads efforts to increase raptor numbers"
  19. That said, fired thirty win subs tonight, no problem at all!! WAX! (new batch)
  20. Had the same with win subs on cz452, switched to another brand, fine, switched back, not ejecting. Clean barrel and reciever, ok for about 5 shots. Gunshop suspects extractor claw, i suspect the heavy wax on the wins.....but i'm not a gunsmith. What mod is that Arcpest? Is it quiet?
  21. I was in the trade too ....... vehicle welder! Welded plenty of LR's. Jap stuff was fairly rare when i gave up welding (hated it too in the end) Good riddance to the motor trade! Have to agree on cheap parts for landys, as a friend just bought a starter for suzuki....£200 quid (inc surcharge) and it's tiny.
  22. Only thing that puts me off any Land Rover is the rotting chassis problems.
  23. I have to agree with their ban on pictures of dead quarry IF, as has been said "pictures of steaming guts" are shown. Fine line between nicely laid out picture memories of a damn good hunting session, and gratuitous bloodyness for the sake of it. Thouroughly disagree with being able to discuss tuning, it means any inexperienced idiot can have a go a tweaking their rifle, possibly causing themselves an injury or wandering around with an illegal firearm, which will inevitably end up causing the law abiding shooters to have yet more rules and restrictions.
