  3. Thanks Cooper, Fishing's moved on a bit since i was a nipper (30 yrs ago)....... Nice website.
  4. 20 acres is not big, and given that cost is a consideration, .22 rimfire is the best value all round. I have 50 acres, and wouldnt want anything else.
  5. Looking to fish for bass and mullett around the chichester area. Need all the kit, so can anyone suggest a tackle shop that won't take the financial P and offer sound advice??
  6. Shooting in your garden is a no-no, unless you have a very big garden, and you have very good reason to rid of vermin, and it's safe! I do a fair bit of air rifle work in heavily populated areas, and the golden rules are; safety, and don't be seen or heard by ANYONE! The mere sight of a gun in these times will have the police on you. Find a club, or a permission and do it there!
  7. ....In fact, if anyone knows the price of the standard cz synthetic stock, I'd like to know.
  8. As I understand it, you have a right to own a shotgun unless the police can prove you are not fit, whereas you have to prove your fitness and need for a FAC, as well as suitable land.
  9. CZ do synthetic stock on 452 ...... firsty scratch on my walnut one and i wished i'd gone for synthetic!
  10. Most of my Koi jumped out when the water wasnt right.
  11. I hd an RM500, b'stard thing used to try and kill me everytime i rode it ........ ahhhh, what fun!
  12. Nice one Deker! Tough little buggers aren't they, got to hit them just right! ........ still couldn't stomach eating one though .... unless Nigella Lawson served me one in an intimate dinner for two. Fidgety
  13. ...shurely not one day's haul??? Frozen collection?? Which? If its a day's hunting, it's MIGHTY impressive!
  14. Thanks arcpest, i'll look into that! Fidgety
  15. Thanks chaps. My air arms one is noisy. Had a friend round with a Logun, and it was as if there was no air in the gun, as Sean said. However, the silencer was unknown make (probably logun) Just after your valid opinions.
  16. Surrey manor arcpest, you? logic, they are! Know loads of .22rf users with fox on (old boys normally)
  17. .22lr a no-no in the south east for fox, in fact, any rimfire!!! I was going to ask BASC, but they also say not!...thanks BASC!
  18. Looking for opinions on the quietest moderators (make and model) for air arms s410 carbine.

Always hunt with the wind in your face, use sprays, and chain-smoke fags.
  20. Me too. Shock was my reaction to, not only the differnce in range, but the size and weight of the bullet. First few plays with it, i found the bullet had travelled through the turf about 12 inches, popped out the other side and rattled off into the trees (safely as it happens) - and all this from a high position into a valley. After that, i tried shooting at a bag of peat at 60 yards, with a safe backstop, it went right through, and made a big dent in the backstop too. So, the fear of missing what should be an easy shot is understandable because you dont know where the bullet will end up if y
  21. I take it you have just moved to powder? What have you got .22rf? All sounds familiar.
  22. Oh yes, legalised theft in the form of taxes!
  23. I see your point Logic, but i suppose it depends on the terrain, and the onward travel of the bullet should it hit a flint etc. I once had a ricochet (air rifle) off a rabbits head!! Its all about learning the capabilities of the tools. There is no substitute for experience.
  24. If I had to do it all again, I'd join a club, find an FAC mentor and learn from them. In my experience, the leap from air rifle too .22 rimfire is a massive one in terms of safety and anything bigger poses different risks. What was once a nice safe shot on your ground will need to be totally re assessed. Funnily enough, i still take out my air rifle much more often than the .22rf. Good luck.
  25. Cheaper option would be to fly to the states and try one, and lots of other kit!
