  1. i catch loads of moles on t fell with me terriers every year
  2. this isnt worth bothering with, cos its going to end in a slanging match and i have better things to do in my life
  3. facts you cant find rules on here about why anyone is on , someone said before , the website is for best practice , bla bla bla, its not, its for whatever you want, some folk like to make brash statements, some talk utter shit, some like to wind others up, some just bitch, some sell , some sit back and read, its up to the individual
  4. i cant remember any rules telling me the idea of this website was to share tips, hints or best practice or anything else for that matter, people come on thl for many different reasons, some good , some not so good
  5. go to any of the wildlife reserves in the area, plenty of people there to give advice, some good , some not so good, most of them have feed stations that are always busy with birds close up, if you put in plenty of practice, you could be as good as paulus, lol
  6. i have seen some sloppy set traps catch moles in the past, i always tinkered with trap to make them more efficient, some catch using them straight off the shelf, no one is right or wrong, if it works for them , then fine, i have literally dug a place up to get a trap in and still caught, there are no definates and no maybe,s in setting traps, some catch better and faster, some dont, there are times when you have to look outside the box to get the job done, just cos it works for you moleman kent, dont mean its the only way
  7. rats are sods around birds , once caught one in a broiler house for a customer , the bugger had nailed and stored over 200 chicks in about 4 days behind the wall panel
  8. im quite interested as to why would the sensory hairs on a moles tail affect trapping, if your trap is set correctly the moles tail should never touch anywhere near the trap, also traps can catch in all areas of a moles workings, just some areas catch quicker and better than others , most of my former customers were bothered by, grass covered with soil, the land looking a mess and listerosis in sheep and cattle and harrowed the fields after they were trapped , the rain washing any soil back into the ground , stopping siliage spoiling , when anials graze they will take in a small amount of
  9. nice pics paulus, just wondering how the hell do trees and shrubs know we are in for a bad winter??, does it not make sense that we have had a good growing/ fruit producing spring and summer !!
  10. think ill wait and see if it gets a good review of you otc, might just be a re run bog standard
  11. i heard one in me house today , how every dare it, snap e set in loft , under stairs and in airing cupboards, better than doping it and having it stink for weeks
  12. if theres nothing there and its in her head, how come theres rat dropping behind the bath panel?? and they taking bread?? if they take bread, use that for bait why did you not try to trap it 1st, i only ever resorted to baiting if the traps dont work, usually cos of diy efforts ,saves on smells and visits
  13. i have had a few different coloured ones , im suprise u havnt got one yet moxy, must just be in the wrong area, most of mine have come from certain areas
  14. giro, i can at times have 200 traps out, if im on in the summer, i expect to catch in about half of them 1st night, then about quarter 2nd night, after that im just expecting what get what i get, i have had over 400 out of 200 traps on the right ground in 4 nights, you are going to get sprung traps with a bit of fur in them, but if you set in the right sized holes , you shouldnt get to many, dunno why it happens , but it does i wouldnt use mk 4 traps for rabbits, its illegal, even thought they are capable of killing an adult rabbit cheers outlaw pete, i hadnt added a" nt" just where it m
  15. i didnt say i was against trapping dont you think if you did make a hole smaller and something wanted to go in it would just dig its way in if it wanted to. of course if something wants to be in that bad its going to dig, you just have to use your noggin where and when you set them, if we all were that worried about trapping other stuff, no one would ever set a trap, snare ,or put a dog/ferret in a hole, you do your best to avoid any unwanted catches, such as if you set on a well walked footpath or playing field, you asking for bother, use common sense
  16. my appologies, i hadnt realise i did text talk you can use pretty much owt to make your hole right , i use a solid metal tool , made for the job, its just like a mini spade, works for me if you have limited time and traps, block all the holes a couple of days previous and set the ones opened up again toby63, i have trapped many thousands of rabbits over the years and apart from a lamb(, long story} and have not had anything exept vermin as incidental catches, if you read the advice, i say to reduce any big holes , this makes the trap work better and it also reduces the chance of somet
  17. you gotta adjust the size of the hole to fit the trap, if its too big , chuck some soil in and make it smaller, YOu will usually find they too small, so got to make them only just a bit wider and higher than the trap, so long as anyone with dog walking permission knows your setting traps , i wouldn't worry about a dog getting caught, probably would only get a smack on the snout anyway,if you that worried, narrow the outside of the hole a bit with sticks, its not something i have ever done , but could stop the worry
  18. well dont ask questions that are asked on here 3 times a week, them and "what the best bait for rats/fox/mink /bla/bla/bla" its get boring, unfortunatly thats what this snaring ,trapping section has turned into, same boring questons asked by folk that cant be arsed to look back thru the old posts
  19. thats not the point im that good theres none left round here
