  1. good to see a sensible thread on collie x,s and hancock breeding, the bitch in my avitar was put down a few weeks back at 11 years old, wouldnt have swapped her for a gold cow, she was 1st x collie/grey to 1st x collie/ grey, mainly a rabbit catcher , but not adverse to other stuff, so long as it didnt bite back i now have a 1st x collie /grey and have put me name on a 3/8 collie, 5/8 grey bitch pup, did think about hancock 1st x , but gonna try and pick a heavyish pup from the litter
  2. i have used bill,s type of nets now for a few years and have had many thousands of rabbits in them, can honestly say , only had a couple bounce off , probably cos my mate didnt set them right ,lol , they a credit to a pro netsman, and still going strong
  3. you want to think youself lucky they not bats shitting out peanut sized dumps, you dont want to about with one of them flying past
  4. we use rails alot, never baited them, dont see the point, you are relying on the animal using them as a crossing place
  5. i dont think it counts if they climb on top of a bin and die of heat stroke
  6. could you not just dust the entrance to the wasps nest and let them carry the stuff in ?, not that i know much about dealing with insects, just makes sense
  7. i have a nash in my collection, they are a beast, when YOu consider a nash and a trapline are both for trapping moles, theres also a talpirid, google it, another beast of a trap, i actually caught a mole in a talpirid
  8. im just easing myself into flower i d, theres so many different sorts, its mind boggling
  9. i have noticed loads of flowers this year, dunno if im more observant or theres more about, bee & marsh orchids, butterworts, bugle and some birds eye primrose that were pointed out to me by a flower boffin, to name a few, still on the hunt for a butterfly orchid
  10. our fell is covered with cotton grass this year , well at least the bits that aint grazed by the sheep are
  11. just out of interest , do you lads kill the bumble bees or persuade the client to leave them alone, insects were not something i ever dealt with
  12. it dont make a bit of difference if its wet , moles still run thier tunnel system, they dont go deep!! , dunno where some folk get thier ideas from if you get a trap struck , just re set it , you dont need to change it , just make a better job second time round, if it keeps getting struck , your either not setting it right or it got a bad smell on it, then you need to change you trap or move it,
  13. my ex wife had a pet stoat she reared as youngster, called "stoaty" very original, she eventually let it go out the back and could call it to feed it stuff , it would come out of the old wall and up her garden wall , grab the grub and back to its hole, i just wish i had a video camera at the time
  14. ill give it a go, cheers dunno about the much better company comment, just read a post about a lad selling pups and seems like everyone wants to have a dig at folk on here, even tho it has sod all to do with them, havnt found that on facebook , but maybe its the company i keep on there
  15. why can i not just put pics up on here like i can on facebook , its simple on there , on here you gotta f**k about resizing and down loading /up loading , photoshop and all that shite and it still dont work, its beyond me, i give up
  16. mmm, i see that , back to the drawing board me thinks
  17. i think they are regulated by prey numbers, not keepering, we had loads about here a few years back and plenty of rabbits, rabbit numbers are right down and so are the stoat numbers, works the same right across the animal kingdom
  18. polecats are protected , he should be leaving them alone
  19. i got one a few weeks back for my collection, it probably will catch ok , but i would think its for gardeners and the like, have a look at a talpirid, now thats a proper mans trap
  20. easy life ????? i wish i had an easy life when i was a moler, wandering about the fields in good weather setting a few traps now and again, charging a fortune , you know what i mean earthy
