  2. more chance of them eating the meat if you leave the biscuits out and they'll thrive better on meat Y.I.S Leeview
  3. I've been using his quickset system for the past 5 seasons very hard to fault it tbh lightweight basket with no bits stuck up, poles light and strong hard earned cash well spent Y.I.S Leeview I think that I have been on this site for nearly two years and , and thats the first time I've ever read you posting anything positive leeview lol But have you seen any utter sh**e posted by myself? I post from over 50yrs experience of ferrets and ferreting and still have the same passion Y.I.S Leeview
  4. I have the utmost respect for G.F. and have used his dog Bow ( by Country Music)at stud over 20yrs ago as I said whipxgrey running against lurchers is a no contest These people that are coming over to race lurchers through not liking the way non-peds are run Why dont they turn to the track to run straight greys on the flapping tracks? would it be because they're not up to it? and the MONEY is easier picking against lurchers? Mongrels are unknown parentage non-peds have generation after generation in their background and cant believe there is a non-ped running of unknown parentage Y.I.

  6. Seem to be good nets, £170 for 100yd and salv edged, you dont normally get that on cheaper nets the price is good BUT have a good look at the 3rd picture down with the pole, grommet and selvedge maybe the camera but those meshes and selvedge dont look right to me Y.I.S Leeview Are you on about the one after the shadow of the guy taking the photo, the closeup pic of the salv edge? the one where it doesn't look knitted tight enough to the main net. Nah the picture above his shadow and below the one of the grommet, showing a pole and the selvedge and some odd (oblong) meshes
  7. The winner was bred to race not work in the field catching game as a lurcher would be expected to do Hows the winner done in non-ped racing so far? Y.I.S Leeview I wouldn't no, cant hold its own against like bred dogs so drops down to run lurchers to look good Y.I.S Leeview

  10. I asked this question when my Mutt got beaten by 2 greyhounds at Thame and somebody said it was to do with the company that sponsors it? A valid point I suppose as they make food for all breeds. I thought a Lurcher won it last year? last year 2010 youve just got to look at the dog to see its a grey well thats were your wrong PAL it was a whip xgrey that won last year beating a grey and the same this year a Whip xgrey won it and a grey came res :tongue2: So they're not lurchers as I stated Y.I.S Leeview

  12. Jute/Hemp/Flax is a natural fibre takes a lot of looking after(hanging up each net to dry out after a damp or wet days use) it used to be THE material when I started but has been replaced by nylon and even that has been superceded by Spun Poly as muddy commented Funnily enough I picked 4 balls of BEST FLAX up at a car boot sale got all 4 for £3 and Im onto the last needle of completing a longnet with it just for nostalgia sake Y.I.S Leeview
  13. I have led a sheltered life so not seen the word written that much might not of seen the word written because you only look at the pictutres Y.I.S Leeview

  16. I too have heard of farmers spreading the disease, but many farmers abhor the disease as much as we do. We have found in the Dales it can wipe a warren out in a very short time and warrens close by have been unaffected at the same time, Only conclusion we could come up with was food was plentiful and the rabbits were not feeding near each other just close to home and keeping the disease from spreading Y.I.S Leeview
  17. more or bigger holes ? that may be OK for early season ferreting trips but come Dec/Jan/Feb its going to be letting freezing cold air in when your ferrets need to be kept warm Do you drive with the windows down right through the winter? I know I dont Y.I.S Leeview
  18. well IMHO in fairness to a level playing field, IF you(not your dog) qualified for a race final trained hard, worked on your fitness and technique to be in with a chance of winning the £1,000 first prize Your in the blocks and you look across at your opponents and see Usain Bolt in the next lane would you still fancy your chances of winning the money? Y.I.S Leeview
  19. lurcherworld are supported by lurcher and terrier owners throughout the summer at their shows with a view to qualifying for the end of season finals for big money WHY does it then become open to any breed of dog not just lurchers? When was the last time a lurcher won this £1,000 first prize? Y.I.S Leeview
  20. the more good reads the better, but whos is mr merrin? i have herd this name twice recently a molecatcher from Cumbria if he does write a book perthshire keeper could be his proof reader Y.I.S Leeview
