    Smoothfinish you said in your orginal post that you get between 4 and 6 eggs out of 10 hatch. I personally would be looking for a higher % then that . Thats why I've messed with em for years and this time of year were setting 12, 000 eggs a week and getting around 78-79% hatch rate. That's without candling.Not having a dig at all mate just stating what works for me thats all. I've seem 2 identical incubators work differently in different rooms that's for sure.

    I use the r-com incubator's they have a humidity pump and digital read out on em and everything is automatically done for you.

    Just look at your hatch rate it tells you everything. If I put 12 fertile eggs in I'd as good as expect 9-10 healthy chicks out and some cases 11-12. I've messed with em for years and my best results come at 40% 1st 18 then 70% last 3 days.

    Drop the humidity to 40% for 1-18 days then up it to 70% for the last 3 days you might find more then 6 out of 10 hatch. Too much humidity and you'll find chicks dead inside the shell. Basically they've grown to big inside the egg and theres not enough room left for em to pip out.

    Try putting brash in the pens so at least the hens can get away from the cocks if need be.We always do spurs and toe nails on the cocks it saves you having bare backs on the hens later on.Well helps.Also we leave specks off and de~beak the hens reason our pens are net covered and stop the specks coming off if they hit the net for any reason.

    Hence the reason not many keep them pure..........It is a big shame though, there is a line of nice whites being kept pure. The males come pure white with yellow legs and Beaks, with the females are all white with salmon coloured breasts. A lot of the females come with Spurs and the whole family have small straight 'Combes' with little 'Wattles' and tight facial skin......Peas in a Pod, BUT small, with the males top weights of less than 4lb.     They'll come big,small,rough and smooth at the end of the day litters of pups were bought from all over brought back to K,G's place and sold as gould bred so what size stamp and colour is anyone's guess.I thought ken sold up 20+ Years ago with the terriers.

    How many times you heard so called terrier boys say.Yeah had a really good dig to my dog the other day he took some right stick,He got smashed to feck and so on.To many judge dogs by the punishment they've taken and the scars they possess Yeah 99% get bitten some worse then others some bay and some are mute but at the end of the day they forget about time to ground.     There not quick enough for me ideal bushing and in cover dogs but lack pace in the open and before the negative comments start i've seen the dogs in question.Half x's and 3 quarter's
