  1. The best thing about the old land rovers is there are so many places that do spares and up-grades at good prices, the sky is the limit for mods. For lamping and running the hounds about the disco will always be better than a defender as it is far more car like, the transfer box is also set at a higher ratio so better on the motorways, (you can get far more in the back of a disco with the seats down than a 90) get a disco ,raise it by 50mm then throw a good set of tyres on it go and play. photo of the last one i built, sold to a member on here.
  2. jap imports are normaly in good condition and have a few more extras, but some have less rust proofing there are a few other small differances. nothing to worry about. auto's in the 300 are ok, the later ones are fly by wire (no throttle cable) and have an engin managment system. manuals are less complicated and typiclay better on fuel. (autos are only 4 speed).
  3. I have a 95 disco, 1 owner from new, mint condition could be up for grabs, £2k essex area. only reason it maybe for sale is i fancy another off road one. pm me if intrested.
  4. when my dogs were outside over night, i boxed in a green house tube heater into the rear of their box. this just keeps the chill off. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Green-Electric-Tubular-Greenhouse-Heater-2-4-/160527781494?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Garden_Structures_Fencing_CV&var=&hash=item6b1b1490fc
  5. LED are the way forward, i work for a company that design and make LED automotive lights, they now have lights which easily out perform bulb lights. i have an 1800 lumen flash light, i replaced the standard batteries with li-ion 3.6v ones and its the nuts. -Led-18650-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-Camping-/350488212097?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item519ab9b281'>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1800-Lm-SST--Led-18650-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-Camping-/350488212097?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_Camping_LightsLanternsTorches&hash=item519ab9b281 all the best rob,

  7. cool, just checked john's bitch jigsaw is in the dead game book, and was out of blondie, rocky my dear, or diddco's white cloud was always one of my fav staffords! only ever saw him in the flesh once, all the best rob,
  8. That's the one mate. Thanks for giving it the once over. great article, i remember being there when the "lads" walked in with the "supposed" Tosa (in fact it was a great dane mastif cross). nasty as you like though, that was one time it needed the 2 leads! (i am sure jay breed it?) with respect to staffords, not sure i will ever be without one and even at close on 12 years old my old boy still comes out on walks, however always on his lead as i can not be arsed to keep looking over the horizon for potential scraps!! lol. all the best rob,
  9. great pics,,, was jigsaw breed down from blondie? and was she behind john's bitch jigsaw? cheers rob
  10. gameness = dog on dog, man on man the only true test of gameness is one on one either up hill or pound for pound! pray drive = the out and out drive to catch the intended pray hardness = the amount of stick a dog can take and still continue to catch of hold its pray nicked from a prevoius post on this subject was writen about previous staffords i have owned. my point was not that you do not get gameness and pray drive in the same dog, just that in my very very limited experience it seems to be one or the other, i have had dogs rotivate the tarmac to get to other dogs (and i a
  11. I remember the first time i was ever in phils yard was to pick up 2 fell pups. The dam was with the pups and when i asked about the sire he pointed to a black dog that was running around with about 50.60 more black terriers all loose,i had to laugh and so did he,pups actually were very good in the end.He had some amount of lurchers there that time aswell, and also the wheaton dog rambo. He chatted about dogs for about 2hours,gave us tea and sandwiches and sent us up the road happy men after listening to some of his stories.A true old school hunter. i have only ever seen pictures and been to
  12. temperaments,, the one thing that continues to amaze me, i started off with Staffords and within reason they are fairly the same, all love people all soppy as arse holes, however some are mad for hunting and some are mad for fighting, just spending time with different dogs of the same breed you can see they all kind of follow the breed type but all have their own quirks, then we also had a few bulldogs both old tyme and performance,, they were a different kettle of fish, it seems to me the more performance breed a animal is the more highly strung it is, and once the switch goes on its har
  13. from my experiance nearly all staffordshire bull terriers are spot on with kids and people, as a whole the stafford can take the rough and tumble of family life with ease, however there are one or two which may have had a bad start in life that can be nervous. there is nothing as dangerous as a nervous example of a any breed with such high drive and bite force, even a warning can result in a very bad injury! with respect to pit bull terriers, if they are bred from "working lines" you need to do your homework very very carfuly as some lines do carry the potential to be a "little sharp", a
  14. for sale no,, more like given away,, it has now fund anew home, and as a result cost me a fortune for a disco 2 comercial! more than happy to give you a few hints what to look for, pm me if you need all the best rob,
  15. make you right, i do not think i will get my money back but for a straight one with no mods your looking at 2k on a 98, cheers rob.
  16. a disco is 100% on the road than the 90, due to the wheel base (100" against 90")and the high ratio transfer box. your right about the boot floor,, top tip go for one without sun roofs, these leak then moisture sits under insulation on the boot floor. £1000, would concider sell at £2000 but even at that it would be at a loss. all the best rob,
  17. cheers SS, im am always buliding them, then gatting the pox and selling them,, thing is they are so easy to work on, will take on board the comments about AWD, shame as they are big and thought they may do the job, looks like its a forester then! Willow, you little stinker!!! there is nothing wrong with my driving!! however for some reason the dog refuse to get in the truck anymore!! LOL!!! cheers rob,
  18. just concidering selling my disco, please see thead above, would accept 2k, all the hard work has been done on it! regards rob,
  19. ok so here is the dilemma, i have a 98 300tdi manual, its only done 109k, the floor, chassis, inner wings are all mint, i have fitted the following disco, 300tdi manual, no crunches between 1st and 2nd, apart from a few scratches and alloy surfece corosion very good nick, - £1700 XS half leather with LR logos 7 seats - £250 5 BFG all terrains, 275 x 75 x 16 (the biggest you can fit with a 2" lift. - £500 brit part cellular dynamic 2" lift with extended bump stops - £350 front alloy stearing bash plate - £90 dif guard -£20 full service including all oils, transfer box, diff
  20. seen it loads of times, some lurchers that even hunt up feral cat are happy to live with them??? makes no sense to me but it happens!
  21. two things to look out for on older td5's 1,is the rear chassis, the chassis legs that go the very rear of the car can fill with water and can rust form the inside, you will see the chassis section look distorted, if so they are cattle trucked! 2,leaking sun roofs!!! this si a real pain, as soon as you get in feel just above the screen below the sun visor, if its wet,, its a head lining out and re-sealing job!! not that hard but normally you end up damaging the head lining. SS nice looking disco,, late head lights, grill, bumper, premium roof bars, RR 18" good combo! shames its no
  22. for the dogs alone, its a 300 tdi all the way, if you pay 2k you will get a very nice example with around 100k and will last another 100k you can fix its your self and to be fair if its not abused and is serviced its a steal,,, not only that but you can modify it cheaply and sell it for what you paid when the time comes, its its for dogs and family, its a td5, but for the same qaulity in a td5 (sub 100k)you need to be looking at 5k. then there is the fact you need to plug in every time you have a fault! the ACE, system, rear air suspension if it has it, head gaskets going, most have
  23. not sure but i think these are for off road use only?
  24. just on rabbits, i was out with a mate bushing, a rabbit got up my deerhound x was on it,,he turned the rabbit straight into my mates smaller bitch, this has happend once or twice, from what i have seen the if the faster dog catches on the run up, its all over, if not and he forces a turn it gives the slower more of a chance to strike, this has also got a lot to do with my dogs lack of ablity to turn,
