very windy in north wales and just having a touch of snow right now.
  4. im no expert and have just got my first lurcher and she's now allmost 11 month old but one thing ill add is the early socialisation. i dont think it says enough about it in the dvd and thats were i messed up. she will accept slow moving trafic but doesnt like the fast stuff, even the noise sends her a bit scittish. another thing is the socialising with other dogs. it was the same dogs my pup saw all the time so didnt mind them but others, especially bigger than her she wasnt happy about. luckily her confidence seems to have gone up now and accepts them even went up to one of my mates labs toda

  9. our pond has got loads of the stuff. had to spread it out abit as they were laying (do frogs lay ) it on top of other spawn, out the water. no little poles yet but still a couple....
  10. couldnt use scatter guns round here millet, too noisy for the area plus the feild is surounded by either paths houses or roads. perhaps shot with a pellet rifle but why was it on the path. surely it would go seek cover or get too ground. no stress round the neck. usually if the kneck gone and you try and skin it like i did it gives at the kneck. that mark (the first pic i posted) was in the chest so could of been a low shot but looks like it healed up, yet i found it warm
  11. as much as i hate skinning i did it and couldnt find any major abnormalities. there was this wound, perhaps old pellet hole?? there was this thing near the shoulder/neck area. everything else seemed fine but when i trod on the skin and pulled (hoping to skin its head) it gave way on the shoulder are....as you can see in the pic...never had that before. the neck has snapped and come off but never by there. there was plenty of this black suff too...just looks like clotted blood to me but there seemed more of it in one clump so thought i better mention it. again
  12. whilst out this morning i found a dead rabbit. thought it would do for the ferrets as it was still warm when i found it but just starting to stiffen up but dont think i will now. anyway it was on a public footpath and just on its side not with its legs out-streched just normal i guess. had a feel over it and couldnt feel anything apart from this little scab it seems like its healed up from what ever happened as its starting to come off. the only other damage i could see on it was that someones gone and peirced its ears but doubt that would that kill it?? something else i
  13. just a few ideas to get you going...... on a training dvd ive got the fella gets the dummy on a string first, gees the dog up with it then gets the lamp on it and gets the dog to chase it in circles around him....only enough to get the dog keen. then when its keen i used a tennis ball with my pup as she prefers moving things to still things. i chuck it follow it in the beam and give her plenty of encourage ment to get on and catch it. once she's caught it lamp off and recall whistle. then once she gets the idea of following the thing in the beam try throwing the dummy....few of them then get s

  23. well theres not much choice there ditch. i havnt been ferreting long so jmo but i allways use a locator but to me digging is a last resort and on most of the days local we dont have to dig much luckily, most of the time. im allways looking out for the ferret, listening for underground movement and any alarm calls of birds that perhaps may be the ferret slipped out of a unnetted hole. however i think locators are pritty usefull, ill give ye an example. i went up to a estate with a few other fellas now the saeson finished to do a bit of ferreting. were doing great all day, bit rushed as there wa
