  1. Your right brookie it is down to the saluki owners not alowing people to get dogs of them no mater how well they get to know them, but the way some salukis get passed around i can under stand some of the breeders. I thought it was down to M T who sold some salukis pups to some of the courser like boothy . kizzy pharoh blood was exported to Saudi don't mean their the best, just their easy to get hold of. Wild caught falcons are meant to be the best but they import hundreds of Avery bred falcons every year for the same reason. I've seen both the salukis in that add run they was good but no w
  2. shame there's not a test for all the faults they can show or pass on. there is only one way to get rid of any faults and thats to hard a road unless you have a lot of money to keep a large number of dogs or as most do out cross and cover it up for a time, me i would scrap a line that kept showing two many bad faults.
  3. LOL no mine are no good but ill put them up anyway, but you've seen them before cocker
  4. all the same line cocker with a bit of Tepe Gawra in the one off khan. yes i know Don't sound like you do or you would have just put Pharoh x kizzy. All these salukis are so very very inbred, how there is not more wrong with them must be down to luck as it sure not good breeding. People add what they think are unrelated dogs or see a dog in a pedigree and think its fresh blood but if they looked back in the pedigrees they would find its just the same blood lines being bred back in. Even adding Tepe Gawra don't give you that much new blood as part of the breeding goes back to Knight
  5. all the same line cocker with a bit of Tepe Gawra in the one off khan.
  6. annie dont be concerned at all . one cannot be predisposed to a genetic fault especially if its not there in the first place . this to me is nothing short of a hatchet job on khan .the problem with the litter which produced the coloured pup with the windswept legs were they were very closely inbred the woman that bred them is known to forge papers and lie about how her pups are bred anyway. and a few bitches have thrown small pups by khan but then they have been small bitches them selves and related to khan and line breeding does produce smaller pups but as for genetic faults the lines have no
  7. Like you say chalky end of the beam,IMO a dog should run out fast to the end of the beam even if it cant see what you can see. you will loses loads if their slow down the beam.
  8. Trisha there aren't many hares down here anyway but before the ban most of the best hare catchers have been saluki bred and that goes for lamping rabbits to. A good saluki cross only runs as fast as it needs to like a hare, if the fields are small its going to put the speed on when needed if its any good.

  12. it all depends on what country they came from, in some countries they are bred for larger stuff that will fight back, Wolf, boar, fox and they are a bit more heaver than the hare hunting types and most likely wouldn't be suitable for just hare.
  13. ferrets read my post again i said ''as his interest grows'' I started off wanting a dog to take out with my ferrets most get more into the lurcher side and a small dogs not the tool you end up needing. don't see to many bedlington lurcher round here to head strong for their own good.
  14. i see, don't think they have competitions like we would have but they like their saluki to be the one that kills the hare est. the kill seems to be more important over there than winning points, how many dogs are running or even how its killed, seen one video where they were shooting at a Gazelle that their salukis were running LOL. i would go for Syrian or Saudi salukis myself.
  15. As Rabbithunter says better to have a bigger dog that as your interest grows will still be able to do what ever job comes along , anything from 24 to 26 will do well, and a lot of the time better than the smaller types even with the small fields we have.
  16. what comps are you talking about? if your going to go to the trouble of importing, you need to bring them in from a place that they are mostly bred for hare and not bigger stuff.
