It's an ok film. Kind of sad really though so I didn't like it that much. I have it on video somewhere.

I'd say the ferret, easily! The squirrel may have teeth and be about the same size, but unlike the squirrel a ferret is a natural killer and would make the first bite count

I got Deer on my ticket via the mentor route. If you can find a local shooter who is willing to take you out then I feel that is a better way to go. You learn a lot more from practical experience than you will in a classroom and IMO you will become a better stalker faster this way. You don't really have to have confirmed kills with a mentor to get the Deer on your FAC. If you can prove to your mentor that you can shoot accurately, and witness him shooting and processing the game then you know all you need to know to shoot them yourself! Finding someone willing to let you help them carr

Nice one! Sounds like you've got yourself a good permission there. Good job the farmer was on hand too by the sound of things, that would have taken some dragging!

What a great time I've had over the last couple of weeks. I've been staying with My friend in Canada, being driven around the place checking out the countryside and culture. What can I say, I miss the place already. Where else can you spot a moose hanging out of a pickup truck driving through town? People would die of shock if that happened here! For some reason they're much more clued up to the realities of life there, I admire (or even envy) their way of thinking! I took my .375H&H with me for Bear protection (what a wimp!), luckily it didn't get used for that purpose in the end. Fir

Bump for a worthy cause. Come on guys, meningitis really messes people up, often children. What's the price of a couple of pints to help them hey?

Edited to add a secure page.

Hey guys. Next weekend I'm doing a 21 mile walk for the meningitis trust. I hope to get a little more money together than I did last year. I hate asking for money, but would any of you be kind enough to sponsor me? Last year I paid the entry fee and walked it, no sponsors. I managed the whole route in about 8 hours, the mrs got to the end an hour later and I was really proud of her. I walked the last 7 miles on tiptoe because both my heels were blistered up and I couldn't put pressure on them If anyone would be willing to make a donation, however small, I'd be really grateful. http:

All that stuff on first application? Well done, you're a lucky guy! I guess the amount of land you have may have helped, but I'm surprised you got the .308. Is it for Deer? Have you done a DSC or got a mentor?

Anyone actually hunting with their guns these days?
njc110381 replied to Malt's topic in Airgun Hunting
I was out with the HMR this morning. I got three bunnies, two young ones and a good sized adult. I rarely take pictures if I only get a couple. If I ever get what I consider to be a good bag I'll post it on here, but I din't think there was much point in shouting about a couple of bunnies. -
I have an L200, it's my third. The first one (2000 model 4life) reached 100k and I traded it in for another. That one (a 2002 single cab) had some problems, but that was due to being crashed and badly repaired so no fault of the vehicle there. The new one (2004 club cab) has been great too so far. It's just coming up to 50k and hasn't had any issues yet. They do wear the steering components a little fast, but I think all modern power steering trucks do because of the pressure put on them. I have a friend with an old one and that's good too. Navaras are good too from what I can make

Can't see why you shouldn't have them. Ruger des a 9 round mag as standard on the 77/17, and that's only because 10 rounds don't fit like they do if it's a .22lr. I didn't know you could get them, but I'm going to be ordering some when I've looked at the link.

I've just bought a CZ Varmint and I'm happy with it. The barrels are not really heavy on them, just a bit heavier than standard. The gun feels nice to hold, even with a mod fitted. I bought mine screwcut. Some come ready done, some don't. If you specify you want it screwcut then Edgar brothers will send out a threaded one for you. I think it costs about £40 more, so nothing major.

Usually I expect to hit maybe half a dozen birds with a box of 25 shells, but I'm not too good with the scattergun! My best day was 7 pigeons with 10 shots with my .410 Pure luck!

Wildcat mods are made by UK Custom Shop.... http://www.wildcatrifles.co.uk/index.htm I bought my 6.5x55 from Andy Banner (the owner) and he's a really helpful guy. I picked my gun up at 7.30pm on a sunday from his house, because I had some problems with my FAC and a stalk booked the next day! I can't fault the guy. I'm having trouble getting hold of him to buy a mod from him. I think he must be really busy at the moment, because he's usually spot on

I took the head clean off a Rabbit with my 12g at about 10 yards once and it ran for quite a way. It's amazing how these things happen, as usually I find they just slump to the floor and maybe kick a few times. I guess that if you get a strong kicker that happens to stay upright by chance it will run until it falls over?

You got a visit for a variation? Was it a land check? I've never heard of that before, unless you've only shot rimfires so far and they wanted to see how good you are? Well done though, as long as they said yes that's the main thing! I hope it gets sorted quickly for you. Just out of interest, how long did you have to wait for the visit?

A perfect shot with a new gun. That relationship has started well! Good shooting buddy, I hope you get a lot more with it in the future

Public Confrontation, Ramblers etc

I must say I felt your rant was very generalised and seemed to be aimed at the guys posting here, which I thought was a little below the belt. Obviously a misunderstanding on my part. I apologise for calling you names, it was unnecessary. I do feel people expect a lot from land owners at times. Free shooting, a right to walk where they want etc. It can be a little one sided. You do find some land owners rather blunt, but I've always put it down to the fact that they've probably had to say it so many times before that they start to lose patience in the end. It must be frustrating for them! -

I've read lord bs and Aarons comments, and I can't see what either of them have done wrong? One has had his shoot f***ed up by a bunch of townie idiots who were wandering around his estate acting like they own the place, and the other has politely asked a walker not to wander around his cover crops (which could upset the birds) to be told to f*** off. I can't see how you can say these land owners are in the wrong? I find it very rare that rich people are rude, most of the true well off types are kind folk. It's already been said that as a rule they don't mind walkers, even though they're not s -

WTF is that about? Are you saying that land owners should let anyone who feels like it just wander over their land, even to the point of having to put up with abuse from them? That's crap! Would you let a stranger walk around your garden after he'd p***ed on your carrots and called you a w***er for questioning it? Probably not! With the respect you're showing, it's not surprising your local toffs think you're a prat! If you want respect, try showing some! I get on well with several rich land owners, probably because I treat them the same as I expect to be treated myself, and don't expect to be -
I can't see why you shouldn't shoot there with a rifle. If it really is that flat then you may have to use a high seat, but it looks fine really. I have ground that looks similar cleared for 6.5x55, and that's next to a motorway! Get the decision first hand from the FEO. Is there any possibility the farm worker may be trying to put you off so he gets the ground all to himself? I don't like the sound of this much, something doesn't sound right to me

I use 3-9x40s on my rimfires and will use a 5-15x50 on the .223 I don't see the point in stupidly high mag, although it can be good for spotting

Get a CZ! Here's mine, threaded 1/2 UNF

Nothing showed because you're the only one daft enough to be out in it
