NICE. I dare say you put it back, but the other weekend we had a big hunt lunch and dinner, 1 of the courses was catfish, bloody luvly it was. Im gonna have a bash for them after the weekend as the river is low and slow.

Great stuff fellas, keep it going. Mine first came along in her buggy, then first time ferreting at about 3, same time started her with a bit of air pistol shooting, first bit of digging around 7, she started airgun competitions about 10 now top in the girls regionals.

Interesting stuff CC17. One fella explained to me that in his area, a sounder was used then digging would commence, as they got nearer a mute dog would be entered pass the sounder. Got it too easy these days, as has been said. But you cannot take away the positive about safety for your terrier.

yes i do own proper digging dogs u most be god if u never fail to get a dog to travel u cant make a dog go to ground he has too want too ur the one thats talking shit now that my opinion i wont post anymore on this topic Madra, im not saying you are right or wrong, but I dont understand you not wanting to post more, not meant to cause offence but it seems you have your head in the sand, Busterdog is saying he has never failed to enter, and from what your saying you have had some fail to travel,,,,,,,,,. Id be asking what Busterdog is doing different or what stuff is he using.

It would be best to buy a locator and be careful where you enter your dog! My dogs always got a locater collar on, but prefer to find this way in the first instance, I think you learn a lot more about a terrier than just switching on a box. Personal opinion.

I will give the shovel a try next Saturday. Sawtooth, Id dig down, not tunnel. If the hill is 45 degree then 10 foot down is 10 foot in,,, thats 2 of your body lengths (if your a midget LOL)to get to the terrier then a dog length, youve got to tunnel and clear all of that then get the dog and the game. Only bad thing about digging down on a hill is trying to throw the spoil uphill so you got something to backfill with.

I/we use a hex solid steel bar of about 5 foot in length, spike on one end and flattened at the other. If its a small place your bound to here the dog with the game from an entrance, after that bar down a few inches on where you think the dog maybe and put your ear hard onto the flattened end. Then tell everyone to shut up and stop walking about. If you hear nothing, just keep moving about. till you get something. When you do move away half a meter in all directions until you can say your nearer,. The deeper the earths, the deeper you need to bar down. You will hear the dog diggin
