    there are quite anoth mongrals about already, put a bushing russel dog over your bushing russel bitch if thats the sport you like. whirrers are perfect if you want a dog thats to small for lurcher work and to big for terreir work. I see that "brin" that the "warrener" has on hes videos work loads of times in person when w.j owned him and hes sister. he was a fair dog on all game bar big deer, but I still think most are novelties that will get shown up every time by a 22 - 25 inch lurcher

    spot on, it could be the best day and money spent on fuel if you get 5 years of graft. try a trip to trevor cooks in sunderland he keeps and breeds working deerhound greyhounds or dave platts but iv got no knowledge of or seen platts dogs work. Iv seen a few 3/4 breeds about lately but myself dont fancy something with so much greyhound, normally turn like a battle ship the ones iv seen. I went half breed out of cooks stud dog, time will tell.

    sorry did I just hear the dogs killed 21 in the SNOW !!!! you go sledging in the snow not COURSING! And that the dog is a "first season dog" how the hell can that dog have been tested and fit for stud at £700 straws or not? As iv said iv never said the dogs no good, its just the big statements and the lack of matching.

    iv got a very, very similar bitch exactlie that size, head and build same feet same markings on tail and face but is fawn in colour, I breed her myself out of saluki lurchers mother to son, she can run a bit pleased with her at 2 year old.

    I had a reasonable small lurcher that took double figures on the lamp once myself. little dogs struggle on the lamp they lack speed for long slips and stamina. mine are not giants at all 23-24, but a noveltie 18 inch bedlington whippet wont be a patch on a 23 - 24 - 25 inch lurcher. I cant see why given the chance you wouldnt use a bigger lurcher, Im not knocking people but id be sick if a pup came up 19 that I wanted for lamping, at the end of the day thed fit in the same kennel and its not as if its the cost of food as your talking pennys.     Are you still running deerhounds on big ears or have you moved onto salukis ? When was the last time a deerhound won a match? I Cant remember the last time a deerhound x won an obedience comp against collie xs, or a race against whippet greyhounds or anything against anything for that matter ! s.b you know coursing and I know coursing, i have no intention of comparing a deerhound greyhound against a saluki lurcher at daytime coursing, the saluki lurcher is unbeatable at the job fact! but as coursing is on its arse now these dogs could well be of more value too many as more and more drift

    o.k so run a dog for a fried breakfast if your into the sport.? ! the problem is that this dog has been taked up to the hilt good or bad and now it has everything to lose when (if) it does run. so even if you dont run for money your still gamberling. this is the last ill say on this dog as keeping it in the lime light by keep talking about it isnt how a dogs name should be made.

    probablie not as good as a specialist dog at any single quarie. But if my first cross deerhound greyhound pup can do rabbit, hare, fox, deer ( when bans gone ) when I come across them that will be a worthy addition to my kennel. I keep saluki lurchers but the best way to see if a cross is anygood is Try One rear it and enter it yourself. If you give it the best and it fails you know youv done your bit of the deal.

    no probs with bull cross as deer dogs just its a fact a lot of the heavy half breeds cant keep up with a flat out fallow deer.

    put him into a knock out then if he dont like betting. foxy run 60 odd matches im not sure about lucky be nice for someone on here to put hes record up. and they were run in comps too THEY PROVED THERE WORTH. dont get me wrong id love to have owned the dog when I was into it by the sounds of him. I wont take the dog seriouslie untill he wins something. Like a gym fighter to me.

    I ant dobting the dogs good if I had a dog that I was confident could kill 3 id run you but I ant. you run the hares so as long as you kill yours It dont matter what your dog can do. If he was doing the job why didnt you match him ? next time your in cambridge next year ill try sort this race out if you like. im not a leary fella shouting my mouth off ill just put you in touch with a man who will run you. talks cheap GET ON AND WIN SOME MATCHES then put him at stud or straws what ever ! !

    i agree mate it sounds like its al about the money he will never get any credit till he matches one of the big shots its lurchers were talking about working mans sport whatever happend to a pup for a service or a resonable fee top class greyhounds dont cost this much its a joke for people to be trying to charge there fellow hunters that sort of money like i said earlier its all about the money its all high risk now to get dogs where you want them ,so this partly forces the values up.The other reason is the amount of money lads have got because of the other game !
