  1. As like many others, my FAC air is one of the first I reach for out the cabinet. Some of the environments I shoot a LR is a big no no but the FAC air is the tool. Noise can be a factor too, moderator or not, I often work on horse land and again a LR is a no no. FAC has its place and I don't disagree in what your saying WFE, but it all depends on what type of shooting your going to be doing? or again!! The tool for the job
  2. You could do a dab of re-blue, it wont hurt. But just keep it well oiled
  3. Thanks for the comment craig but I have to add in acuspells defence, he wasn't being derogatory and im pretty sure he knows his onions. Simply for myself, number crunching aint my thing and its all well and good to loose yourself in chrono readings but as you rightly say craig if it isn't hitting where it should at the sharp end, then again the numbers mean didly squat. It is so hard to advise whats for the best. Feck!! I have lost days pouring over a box full of pellets, a chrono and the WP of dive cylinders along with a set of alan keys. The mind boggles sometimes.
  4. "not putting a price up just sensible offers please" Care to rethink that mate? Nice looking gun by the way
  5. Well I will be interested to give it a whirl. I have a powerful cobra 350mw and the pulsar 940 IL and have also seen a mod homebuild in action. I didn't get much time last year to try out the NV with the illuminators nor did I really need to, but I will certainly be on it this year. What im getting at with the comparison of these units/ad ons, is that technology is moving on so fast and for example, the cobra I have is no way now, worth what I paid for it and im pretty sure that some of these tinkered torches will wipe the floor with it. Maybe? Anyhoo we will see
  6. I prefer an insult to a like any day. What have you got slim
  7. What have you got an NV illuminator for? You cant see the best of times through your Quasimodo eye, let alone at night
  8. very clear and i got 300 yards + the other night no bother Thanks What are you comparing the marky to VM?
  9. What's the clarity like and up to what range? And what are you comparing the marky to? Cheers
  10. I will second the above and say a rapid, On FAC they are handy money and in no shortage. I tend to run mine around the mid twentys and it suits me well for the type of shooting I do/land I cover. and also conserves the shot count a little more as opposed to running it in the high thirtys. I wouldn't get too much into pellet types until you get a FAC air rifle. As the same old story goes every barrel is different. No offence Acuspell but just because the velocity output with a certain pellet can be potentially 900-1000fps, certainly don't mean its going to be accurate at range. I hav
  11. Looks a tidy effort mate but its a good job your a big lad. Atb
  12. Yes but you were caught with your hand in the cookie jar!! You will have to run it by laird rake. Poaching is frowned upon.
  13. top man! its good to see you helping the boy along, god forbid he should wear out a set of boots going from door to door p.s can i come too No!! With poaching on your record your not allowed. You should have thought about it before you got your hands wet.
  14. A standard charging hose and reg wont fit a pub cylinder. As I said earlier, you will need a welding reg with a guage and a purge dial, plus your hose and adapter to your ratty.
  15. Beer gas perhaps Not sure what the wp is on the cylinders but a standard welding reg will fit and provided you mod it to purge, I wouldn't see why one of these cylinders wouldn't do,to decant from, pressure dependant. Around a tenner a cylinder. What is the size and wp on the ratty cylinder?
  16. Most stains and paints are safe nowadays as a lot are water based and solvent free. Creosote would be a no no for obvious reasons. A few varnish stains are ok but depending on the type of wood used and conditions you expose the box to, most will crack and peel over time, but again, safe. Sikkens is one of the best as it lasts and is microporous. But it ain't cheap. Whatever you use, just make sure it's dry and well ventilated and no odour or fumes remain before you throw your stinkers into a potential gas chamber. IMO
  17. With the wealth of experience, good advice and true honest opinions on this thread, it would be daft for it not to be stuck to the top. Bloody good post Simon.
  18. Laird rake says its ok. Fill your boots fella. He don't give the go ahead to just anyone
