  1. I have been on the sharp end of the antis wrath recently so I decided that it was high time to give them a taste of their own medicine. They are starting to fight amongst themselves over the money that the Hunt Saboteurs Association are pulling in and it is in our interests to help them along the path of self destruction. Have a read and then pass the link on to any facebook user that you know. Get them to paste the link on any post on the HSA page. Your help is appreciated. Divide and conquer. http://antiwatching.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/the-mysterious-case-of-hunt-saboteurs.html?spref=tw
  2. +1 On that. You should not need a variation to ask for all other legal quarry. Just send a polite letter asking for it
  3. Hot days and hotter nights. Summer, the season that most look forward to, the cubs are out and are interested in everything, playing in the freshly cut fields with abandon. As a foxing man I know that this is the time to get on top and keep the numbers at an acceptable level. Problem animals will be dealt with as and when they occur. That is and indeed always has been the arrangement with the farmers that I shoot for. On the commercial side of my shooting I find that the clients idea of an acceptable number of foxes is none. Tonight was a commercial outing to deal yet again with the local scho
  4. I have a Browning X Bolt in .223 and have to say that it is the favourite out of all of my rifles by far. There is however a but... I have put less than a thousand rounds through it and I have noticed a serious fault with the magazine. I knocked up a hundred rounds using brand new Lapua match brass with FMJs to fire form them for an upcoming fun shoot. I loaded the magazine and when I went to cycle the bolt the round jumped out of the mag and wouldn't chamber. After trying a half dozen different rounds the problem persisted. I ended up using the rifle as a single shot for the day. I thought it
  5. I put just over two hundred rounds through my .223 before cleaning it the last time. I cleaned it out of guilt rather than a drop in accuracy, it was still bang on the money. Once cleaned I put five rounds of reloaded FMJ through to foul the barrel before shooting live quarry. Mass produced barrels are not lapped (google barrel lapping) It is good practice to run a barrel in. You do not need to clean it while zeroing
  6. +1 on the scope, all the money in your wallet on the scope and the change in your pocket on the rifle
  7. A hollow point will tend to mushroom where a ballistic tip really opens up a large wound channel. If the shot misses a vital organ the fox will run on. At night we all know what a pisser it can be finding one that drops on the spot if it is on uneven ground or in stubble. Hollow points suck on fox
  8. Stainless, wipe clean and won't rust because you couldn't be arsed to clean it at three in the morning. Mine is 1 in 12 and kills foxes
  9. Cheers guys. I took it into the gun shop today and they tried to run it on their chrono. The shout of "fukin' ell" came from the back of the shop and it is now in their hands for a strip re-spring and tune. I have all sorts of FAC stuff so it will be returned to 12 fp's and hopefully it will not knock my fillings loose when it comes back
  10. i do a lot of sea fishing what do i need to plug a few seals whats the licence i need if any ?????????????? Electrical type plug or sink type plug? The licenses will be different.
  11. Thanks Andy, I will strip it down over the weekend and run the numbers again
  12. Ok so how the fook do I stop it deiselling then so I can get a proper reading ?
  13. What actually causes an air rifle to diesel? I thought that it was oil in the barrel?? No smoke when it was fired.
  14. I'll give it a good clean then drop it over the chrono again tomorrow. If it really is pushing out that power I'll drop the spring out. Makes you wonder how people stay out of prison when they don't own chronographs. I wouldn't have had a clue without mine.
  15. I haven't had an air rifle since I was a kid, all of my stuff is FAC. How do I get an air gun on my ticket? The gun hasn't been shot for donkeys years would that make a difference?
  16. Forgot to say that it is a .22 what the hell kind of spring would be in it
  17. I have been after a decent springer for a while and I bought a HW80 off a chap in the local pub (really) Knowing that they are notorious for being difficult to keep under the legal limit I dropped it over the chrono. The fps is 1120 and the pellets are Accupel at 14.3gr. That gives 40.12 foot pounds, no way is an air rifle knocking out that kind of power surely. The backstop was a 3/4 inch piece of plywood against my brick built man shed. It blew holes straight through and knocked fook out of the blocks at twenty yards
  18. They make it up as they go along, guidelines my arse. That said mentorship can be a good idea as just bobbing off with a rifle with no experience can be a very dangerous thing. If you are a member of BASC or any other organisation them get in touch on your behalf and you may see movement in a favourable direction
  19. Even better..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bB9IC4DDf4
  20. Thanks for the good wishes chaps. It just got better. I was waiting for it to get dark enough to lamp the new ground when a small white van pulled into the lane behind me. The driver came over and asked if I knew if the farmer who is selling up. We ended up chatting for a while about this and that until I asked him who he was. Lo and behold last year I was chatting to his Dad after he had rented a field or three off the owner of the land. I asked him if they were having any problems with their wildlife and bingo another farm to visit on Wednesday. Rabbit, fox and deer are all a problem. I thin
  21. Something stinks here, only two dead in a crowd like that, either it is a false flag operation or the "terrorists" are incompetent. Appalling act by cowards of the lowest order may they get their just reward.
  22. I was sat there waiting on a warren and glanced out of the passenger window. All I had was my phone camera to hand, sometimes nature is amazing
  23. That is not the French flag It the French wartime flag
  24. One of my farms has been having financial problems and the farmer is selling off most of his land to cover his debts, pay off his mortgage and basically retire from farming. The loss of shooting ground is never pleasant at the best of times but to see a family farm go to the wall after generations makes it a bitter pill. Over the years I have shot on the farm, trained my dog on there, built massive snowmen with my granddaughter. Whenever the pressures of this modern life got too much I would often drive up there to just sit in the Land Rover with the windows down, breathing in the stillness an
