  1. After the 45 minute drive down to Muck Wenlock garage to meet the gamekeeper Phil Lynch it was another few miles to the keeper’s cottage. The cottage is set well back from the small country in a cosy clearing in the woods. Surrounding the cottage are all of the things you would expect in such an idyllic setting. Working dogs in runs, pigs in their pens and three peacocks strutting their stuff in the yard. After assuring him that we were decent marksmen on 4 inch targets at the 100 yard mark from a benchrest set up on the grounds, we were finally off on our first deer stalk. Rattling back down
  2. Try the NRA for your nearest club. Take a look here
  3. Thanks I am a member of a deerstalking club, 14500 acres passed for thirty cal plus another 2500 acres passed for .223. When they asked what experience I had I told the truth. I was trained by the RAF to shoot and since then I have shot just about every calibre that exists. From .177 air rifle to .500 SW Magnum handgun. DSC 1 and 2 are on the agenda for this year. I am a member of BASC too The police are not the against legal shooting sports and the FEO that visited me was perfectly reasonable. If you have a valid reason for owning a particular gun then there is no reason why you should
  4. FEO came out today. I asked for .22 .17hmr .223 and .308 the very nice lady from Staffordshire said yes to all calibres and that my FAC plus shotgun cert should land on the doormat in 7 days or so
  5. Bloody typical, no sooner did I post this I went downstairs and my letter for the visit was on the damn doormat My visit is on Monday
  6. I applied for my FAC to Staffordshire police in November last year. I have still had on reply other than the letter confirming receipt of my application. I have telephoned the firearms unit on two occasions only to be told that there is a backlog due to the introduction of the new computer system. I have permissions on over 14,500 acres and am unable to shoot on them. It is driving me to distraction. What is my best course of action ?
  7. I have a dilemma. My 9mth old English Springer has a few toys. Balls, rubber bone and rope bone. We had an old guy in the studio today who trains springers. He said that this was a bad idea because he chews them and will lose his "soft mouth" I just wondered what your opinions were on this. If it is a sound principle then the toys will hit the bin
  8. His name is Bailey he is 9mths old and came from NESSR. He will hopefully be my new gundog. I have never trained a gundog before so it will be a steep learning curve. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
