garyw replied to Mr_Logic's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
why not rebarrel the 250 cheaper than a new gun and you can have the barrel of your choice that will out shoot a factory gun? thats all i do now its much better and you can hold onto your favorite rifle. -
same here or are there ways????

C3PO. im using a gen3 grade c archer on a 17 rem for fox and it is very clear out to 200 yds furthest fox i shot was 179 yds but most are 60-100 you can call them in much closer because theres no lamp to spook em.mine has 2 dark spots on the unit both are to the outer edges of the unit.i was lucky when i bought mine i had a choice of 4 too pick from so i got the clearest one. i took mine over to JULIAN SAVOURY at starlight to look at and bought one of his ir illuminators they are brilliant, hes a decent bloke to deal with any problems you can ring him and he will help you out.i may put mine o

TONY. your flo. is right about the open ticket its nowt to do with the calibre of rifle your after its your experience with firearms that they are concerned about.an open ticket gives you the right to use whatever calibre of firearm you posses on land you have legal right to shoot on and that you can ascertain that said land is safe for that firearm in use. they also like you to have a knowledge of firearms law[within reason] this also strengthens your case.i will give you an example of a recent situation i was part of,a gamekeeper i help out applied for an open certificate for his firearms

MR LOGIC. look on CABELAS web site USA.they stock nightforce for the money the states is hard to beat if you can bring one back with you do it.only problem can be is if you get stopped at customs on the way back into the uk you may have to stump up the vat on the scope.other problem can be if something goes wrong with it [which it wont ]you may have to ship it back to the states. i have 2 nf scopes at this moment and wouldnt part with them for all the tea in china. you may find one over here second hand for £800-900 search tinternet for one second hand there worth there money unless you d

YOUNG. dont get too hung up on shooting groups@ 100yds unless your going to shoot at 100 yds or more.if you think youre shooting at 70 yds then thats where you want to find out what the rifle does.most if not all 17 hmr rifles should be capable of killing a rabbitt or crow etc @ 100yds a lot is down to the ammo its fed and the shooter, good groups will come with a good trigger and good technique. plenty of practice will yield results my 17 annie will hold 1" @150 given the right conditions and me doing my bit. enjoy its why we buy them!

I PERSONALLY THINK DUE TO THE REALLY WET SUMMER/AUTUMN A LOT OF CUBS AND ADULT FOXES ESCAPED THE CULL. MY RECORDS SHOW THAT I SHOT 37 CUBS IN 2006 AND ONLY 21 IN 2007 MY COUNT WAS DOWN IN 2007 BY ABOUT A THIRD[DOGS VIXENS CUBS] TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCESS A LOT OF MY LAND.I AM CERTAIN THAT IN 2008 WE WILL SEE ALOT MORE CUBS AS WELL AS ADULTS.ON OUR SHOOT LAST THURS NIGHT ME AND MY MATE SAW 7 FOXES IN2 HOURS THIS TIME OF YEAR WE WILL SEE 2-3 ON THE SAME LAND,WE KEEP WELL UP ON TOP OF THEM BECAUSE WE RUN OUR OWN SHOOT. I EXPECT YOU TERRIER BOYS WILL BE REALLY BUSY! AS FOR CUBS WELL SEE SO
