  1. Its a Nikon D50 Bobo but ive just got a new lens, the old one wasnt working, must have had that much muck in the workings it creaked and groaned a fair bit New one is better though, or it will be when I get used to it Its a lovely little dog youve got there The spade is Floyds, but it does whats needed of it.
  2. The Gamekeeper happened to mention he'd seen a few rats round his hens a couple of weeks back when we called in to see him, and said he was thinking of poisoning them dont do that said I, we'll bring the smoker along next time we come ferreting Floyd and his son joined us this morning for what we thought would be ratting for half a dozen rats and moving on to do some ferreting. Looking around the place it seemed promising, plenty of fresh well used holes about the place, the dogs marking straigtht away. One of the young gamekeepers came along too, bringing his two terriers, and

Sorry to hear that, its never easy for us when its their time to go She looks lovely in those photos you have taken, in time you will look at them with half a smile and remember the good times.
  6. A canny pile of rats there How is the rough fawn lurcher bred?
  7. Dont cut the tail off - cut round the base of the tail around the bone, get two sticks, one underneath at the base one on the top, hold the sticks each side of the brush, as tightly as possible and pull.
  8. Where abouts did you ferret Corky, I noticed whre youre from on your user details, I know that area quite well
  9. I keep a dog and a bitch kennelled together, but have to separate them for the short time she is in season. Sociable dogs like a bit of company.
  10. Me too looks like you had a good morning
  11. Yes thats Nuala, shes coming on well now, catching herself in some spectacular courses through the woods now It was the worst rain that we have ferreted in and to be honest I dont think we'd have ventured out if we hadnt promised to take someone else but it wasn't cold so it wasnt too bad really The fert seems to be ok, I will check on her again when I get back home home, had to take the afternoon off and will be making my way back home in about 2 foot of snow in a few mins
  12. We arranged to go out ferreting with a friend who has Lily's sister yesterday. We havent seen her since September so when he rang to ask if we wanted to see her I thought it might be nice to bring her along on a ferreting trip, as she has been broken to ferrets (more than can be said for some). Best laid plans and all that, after Saturday's lovely weather it was pouring down Sunday morning when we set off nice and early. We couldnt see the hills or any of the surrounding countryside when we arrived, which was a bit of a shame for our visitor, but it cleared out a bit by the end of the

Good lad overandunder, glad to hear you stuck in at school - well done
  15. Thats an impressive number of rats, you did well, and it looks the dogs enjoyed it too
  16. Aye shes a bonny lass isnt she very similar to the dog you put the pic up of was she a straight deer x grey? Could almost be my two standing there, uncanny really Is she an Aunt of Indie's - think Ive discussed this with you before a long time ago on a different forum?
  17. Possibly Marty, or something like that, will have to get me recipe book out made 2 game pies with the last lot we got before Christmas, one of them's still in the freezer
  18. Indie hurt himself out on a walk a couple of days ago so its no ferreting for him for a few weeks till he gets himself put right. We decided to dust down the nets and take the terriers with us to a steep gill with a stream running through the bottom. This is one of the most difficult places we have ferreted, its almost vertical in places where standing up isnt easy let alone setting nets We were out last night and came home to the neighbours having a party and making a lot of noise at silly hour in the morning :grrr: so a bit bleary eyed, we slept in  Had to call and se
  19. I was at the vets last week getting some of the terriers boosters & the vet was saying that there is an increased amount of parvo around at the moment and it is affecting adult dogs as well as pups, she had a staffy in the previous week that died of it. If your dogs aren't vaccinated against it, get them done asap.
