    HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy Birthday Dave - have a goodun
  2. Theres too much complacency for those sitting comfortably in permanent work. Its not how it used to be where those on the dole were the ones who didnt WANT work. Yes, there are still those who don't want to work, but the way things are at the moment theres a hell of a lot of people finding themselves out of work and willing to do anything to have paid work and their pride intact. My son left school at 15, started working immediately, training to be a gamekeeper, once he qualified he moved on to another shoot where he was laid off at the end of the rearing season. Not to be put off he fo
  3. Heres a few more I came across, there were so many to go through Sunday night.
  4. Thank you. The black dog belongs to Floyd, its an electric collar she has on, she is sometimes a little unruly, doesn't like other dogs and it helps him keep her under control
  5. They are plummer terriers lewismac. I need another terrier like I need a hole in the head but if I do decide I need another, I will breed one myself from my own dogs
  6. Yesterday saw the first of our trips down to Floyds for a spot of ratting at the end of the shooting season. We set off bright and early meeting up with Floyd, young Floyd and his mate who hadn't been ratting before, along with his dog Fenn. We'd had quite a bit of success previously at the first game crop we went to, particularly in a hollow tree which is where we started off. We must have been doing a good job controlling the rats in the previous two years we've been going as the rat numbers did seem to be down. The dogs worked well, marking and catching, with very few missed, even
  7. Thanks for the comments folks, can't take credit for all the dogs, 3 of them are deep digs Back out again in the morning, I can't wait
  8. We had a look down deepdigs yesterday for a spot of ratting on a farm where the farmer was threatening to put poison down. The weather was against us did nowt but rain all day but we had a good day all the same. Deepdig had been on the farm the previous day and seen rats all over the place, but in typical fashion, and as is our luck, they must have heard of the impending visit and buggered off elsewhere After we'd shifted a pile of rubbish and wood, and blocked off as many escape routes as we could we let the dogs out and got started. The dogs were marking b

    Priorities

Family first, but then my dogs are also part of my family, I couldn't imagine life without any of them. Hunting is our way of life.
  12. I'd agree with that, wouldn't like to choose I love it all.
  13. She is 14". pictured with my russell for size comparison
  14. a pup I bred a year ago, coming along very nicely
  15. thats a very nice dog your mate has My ageing first x deer grey - I'd have another just like her any day of the week - enough wind in her to outrun my other two even though she is more than twice their age and she's the one that makes the catches out bushing locally all 29 inches of her..
  16. They certainly did collie/grey expensive ferret food Just an update, she is doing very well, had her out on a lead today, she's been enjoying all the extra attention she's been getting
  17. Probably the title Millet, but like I said theres far less deserving threads in the earthdog working terrier section - as I'm sure you will agree - same goes for the lurchers. If it had to be moved, for whatever reason, then I think photography would have been more appropriate.
  18. Don't let them get to you Lensman. They are lovely pics of the pups. To those who asked about them working - well, they are only pups but they are out of working dogs. I believe both pups are doing very well for their age. Their sire is pictured below. He was sweet too Im sure you'll agree Edited to add, not sure why pics of two pups out of working parents was moved to the "general" section either. There are plenty of other non-working pics and posts on there - "Do you like my pup, etc etc etc"...... The same pups last month - one of them has already entered.
  19. I'm not interested in running him in a match with any dog, I know his capabilities and I am more than happy with him, don't feel the need to justify him to anyone other than myself thanks. I'm not a fan of "matches" hunting is about sport, not beating other dogs or proving 'my dogs better than yours' etc imo. And no I didnt run him at 5 months, but he did get daily exercise, and he happened to catch it by chance while being exercised, nobody pushed him into it.
  20. 1/4 beardie 3/4 greyhound. Caught his first bunny at 5 months old, wouldn't exactly call that a slow start! Hare pics are pre-ban.
