  1. Thank you lurchergirl. Heres a few pics my hubby took today. she was back at the place her injury happened, and its a difficult bit of land for even the fittest of dogs this, so I was just glad she returned home in one piece, she didnt have a full day out, shes not yet ready for that .jpg' alt='NewAvatars_mega_shok.gif' alt='80'>.jpg'>
  2. its noooooooooooooooola to you hippy She had a nasty tear in January, in an awkward spot that had to be stitched up and took quite a bit of time to heal http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...c=81600&hl= Shes been back out again today with my hubby while I was slogging away at work, worrying myself sick, as they were back to the place where she did the injury. all ended well - it wasnt a big bag day but they came back in one piece much to my relief, will stick a few pics up he took in a bit
  3. Gin was known as "the machine" I'm not sure if I know you Wild boy - do I?
  4. Have you seen Gin work Wildboy?
  5. Shes about 24" tts and I haven't yet run her on the lamp. Had planned to do it about the time of her accident in January as we got some new permission that was ideal for lamping and we were just waiting for the ground to soften a bit as the ground was frozen back then. She is very fast, quite a bit faster than my 1/4 beardie 3/4 grey. A few of her littermates have done a lot of lamping and have caught very well, and her parents were used mostly for lamping. I have a very big deer x who is very good on the lamp. Her sire some catches from her ancestors gt grandsire a d

    facebook

Trouble is giving your names out on here, especially in the general section that is open even to non-members you could be letting anyone on as your "friend" - giving out all your personal information out perhaps to anti's Of course there'll be loads of genuine people too, but how will you know who is not? I'm on facebook, but only have people on as friends that I actually know, and thats the way I'm going to keep it
  8. Sounds an interesting cross Jim One of my half x deer/greys I have two deer x's one of them is a good age, I have always found them to have very good feet
  9. Nice pics, looks like you had an enjoyable hour. Ace looks the spit of his mother
  10. Running her with a collar on is not something I have ever really thought about. I have seen coursing dogs run with collars on also.
  11. its a very beautiful place, I love it there
  12. not sure what you mean? We have a male lurcher, Indie, who is injured at the moment so we couldn't take him out today.
  13. Nuala had her first run off the lead last Sunday morning since her accident at the end of January and everything went well so we arranged a ferreting trip for Saturday - today. In the meantime, during a walk out on Wednesday, Ellie pushed out some game from the woods duly persued by Indie who hurt his leg in the process and is now lame, sods law So not only was Nuala going to have her first trip out but she was going solo. We picked up Mr Roughcoat on the way and off we went. We hadn't been there long when Nuala took off, returning with one rabbit for the bag - good start We
  14. As you know looks arent everything. Shes easily spanable (by my hands) and she hunts well and thats what counts. Thank you JPT.
  15. Thats correct, she is fine with our chickens, yes she takes interest in them, but she doesnt attack (might if my back was turned mind) but in a in a hunting situation she is totally different
  16. Thats exactly what happened Scottishlass, and the fact that another terrier chased after one, once she saw that, she didn't need much persuading thats what she was supposed to do. I think as you have said, some dogs are more easily broken to them than others, the higher the prey drive they have, the harder it is going to be.
  17. Don't think this topic has ever been discussed before on here and it was brought up in the bushing dogs topic, so it got me wondering - how do people break their dogs to chickens/birds? Some of our older dogs are ok, if they are told no, then then are obedient but it only takes one dog to upset the apple cart and they think its ok. We have ratted before around chickens, in fact one of the places we did was round the keepers own chickens, and one of his terriers was the worst culprit, nailing one right in front of us. With our newest pup, I thought I would try and break her to them fro
  18. Nope, the big older one is a first cross, the smaller young dog is a half cross but not a first cross, her sire was a first cross, some of the litter turned out very big, and some small like her. Biggest in the litter I believe is now a monster of a dog of 32", doing very well on the lamp.
  19. Plummers for me, good noses, good drive, they have bushed out all sorts in the past, from stoats, squirrels, rabbits to fox and deer, they find whats about at the time.
  20. My two, both half crosses but totally different in size
