Have this problem now mate,i have a lurcher who hunts up really well, has a very good nose but he pulls up at hedges and can run a bit can't be bothered sometimes.I have for the first time in my life thought about moving a dog on but can't bare the thought of him on the merry go round,so he'll stay for the time being and i'll deal with the frustration when i go out with him.I do have another pup(still on mum)for the future but until then make the best of what i have and who knows he may just click one day. :11:

I would have said a ugly, skinny, spineless, tw*t myself tim ,you don't know when to shut up especially when you don't produce perfect pups every time yourself mate.Pratice what you preach and be nice now timmy, unity remember. :friends: :11:

Claws away tim you have said in the past the working owners are in a minority and have no say in matters with in the ptcgb. Most plummer owners i've met are not into the kc bit and i would call them true enthusiasts, plummer in my opinion wanted the kc bit for his ego.He told many a story and courted controvercy and i think the thought of being remembered in a show ring as the rat man who invented that breed would have cheered him.I didn't ever meet him or ever would have wanted to,i just like the look and working ability of the plummer terrier not the man or the sound of the man himself. As f

The grandmother of the bitch who you say is too big for earthwork was much much bigger went to ground time and time again , perhaps you only have small quarry where you are hence small holes , lets say bunnies and rats then Or prehaps glen w breeds a better working line than you tim? (suzi does go to ground, seems yours don't so keeps uses the one's with earth work potential,if you get what i mean Keeps without being rude about your other dogs ) as i'm sure if it were your bred dogs tim that were going to ground you would be telling us all it was you that bred them. .

Went to a farm one night to do some ratting and there were loads of pigeons roosting in the barns,we were lamping them and as they were flying over the terriers they were jumping up and catching them.It was great to watch and we caught more pigeons than we did rats that night.

Getting a good layer as i write, maybe an inch or two at the moment, been on and off all day here but has only settled after sun down,

I would say a true plummer is a terrier bred down from dbp's original stock, his friends at the time called the said dogs plummers and the name has stuck. The plummer terrier has never been bred as an out and out earth dog and i know of no owners who claim them to be out and out earth dogs,a sporting terrier thats is capable of doing earth work amongst other dog work is what a lot of us are striving for with our plummers.I think the standard changing is a load of old baloney,to fit in with legislation??????,the only thing changed is Tim,you can't dock, nothing else. There are a few litters being b

True, they will wish they were dead, and when they do come out they will spend the rest of there lives looking over there shoulder Seems you lads haven't seen the workings of a jail, the nonces get a cushy little wing all to themselves, they are kept well away from the main stream prisoners as the prison service could get sued by one of them if they got attacked. The last time i was on holiday they were the first feckers to get tv's in their cells, they also had a new pool table and were housed in a wing with enhanced prisoners(brown nose creeps wanting to show how good they are)so th

Good result today, big dog fox
fireman replied to dogs-n-natives's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
One of my old dogs(alsation x thing)did it during a scuffle with a fat collie once, took a lot to pull it back off and he didn't flinch either, maybe they go numb(the lips)or something when this happens, worried me more than it did the dog. -
Sounds like a grand day, well done and good news on the young ones doing well.
-
dont like the look of that dog mate Now each to there own but look at it like this mate,to breed a lurcher you need 1,a running dog,or mix of said dogs, you also need a sutable x to go with it.The acd holds a lot of positive benifits for such a cross, look at the bone/compactness/strength of those front legs, the width of skull does meen a bigger brighter brain,it also holds onto a great set of jaws that hold power deseptive to their size,a totaly weather proof coat thats neither to short or to long and with good density one that would suit both rough or smooth coat fans, things you can't see

Have to echo what everyone else is saying mate, all the best and hope you feel better soon.

Well written post mate good lads and well done.

One breeder once said on a breed site they would give one to paris Hilton just to promote the breed!!!!!!!! Still there are a few worker to workers being bred not enough mind but a few so maybe a little hope tucked away somewhere.

10/22 please stop with the unity bit, folks from all sides will use what info they can to score points off each other and it's never going to happen.Your all as bad as each other mate.BBB me and you have had words before mate, but this time i agree with you, breeders should be breeding worker to worker as well as trying to sort out some faults with in the breed, shame it didn't work out for you mate.To many being bred with no thought of work, how this breed is ever expected to go forward as a serious breed with terrier folk i don't know.Seems to many indians want to be a chief in the plummer scene,

2 of each mate.Although it seems i have missed out some close up pics of one of the dog pups ,by the time these pups will be ready to go i will have broken them to ferrets as well.
-
Only one is spoken for mate,my one, just don't know what one it is yet ,you thinking about one mate? .I will be leaving it as long as i can until i choose,i do want a bitch as i have 2 male dogs allready and thats enough leg cocking in my garden.I can't get over how strong they are allready and just can't wait for next season, think these are going to be"proper rum old things"as they say round these parts.

Here's the update on the result of a match between a Acd x Greyhound, 2 weeks old today,

Very nice looking dog mate, they don't seem to throw weak ones do they?
-
The bitch which i have at mine was got really to save her life, she was so skinny it is down to the fact these dogs are so hardy they can live off the scent of a oily rag that she was still alive. She was brought back to health, she couldn't eat properly stomach was shrunk to much when she was first got,she has since getting well, really shown what the breed could be capable of.She has shown us some creditable points on why to use the breed in producing a lurcher and when she came into season she was put to a greyhound dog,we had had a bit of advice from a few folks who had had the type before and
