http://www.justcartridges.com/ sell them, but they don't make them.

I didn't bother to go to ours. The side that is doing the beating are always in too much hurry to get to the end of the drive and don't do a thorough job for the others. "Come on, hurry up, it's our turn next" It's amazing how many dogs suddenly become injured or come in season just before beaters day so they get left home!

.222 used to be a favourite with some keepers that I know. It has had a good reputation for accuracy in the bench-rest world. .223 would be a little cheaper to feed. Ask for a .22 centrefire rifle on your FAC, telling them you would like to choose ONE from various types available. It all depends on the condition of the weapons you can find. I am guessing that most .223 rifles might have had more rounds through them than .222 rifles.

This may be the modern equivilant.

52.5 cm is a short barrel. What do you hunt with it?

I presume the Steyr Quick-detach mounts are not high enough. These are supposed to be good: http://www.eaw.de/eaw/index_uk.php/item/296

However you want to kill it, you will waist less time, in this situation, by tapping it/them.

The fox I caught in a larsen trap and killed with an air rifle went down like a bag of s**t. 12 ft lbs of airgun pellet in the back of the head and it's more dead than a pig that has been stunned ready to have it's throat cut. I expect you have eaten plenty of 'humanely killed' pork.
-
Can't find the forum it was posted on, but it was definitely posted some time back. Of course you could always use the old traditional method of killing an animal without damaging the pelt if you wanted to...........

and then how would you dispatch that fox once caught in the trap However you think is humane, but don't leave any blood in/on the trap. Hanging about waiting for charlie is time wasting when you know exactly where he'll be but not when he'll be there. thats what Im getting at, what other way is there of humainly dispatching a live caught fox in my eyes, you have two options, shooting, or finding a vet that would put it to sleep therefore advising someone to use a live catch trap, when they have already stated they dont hold a means of dispatching fox, is a bit silly

Why do you think they have to be shot? Get a cage trap and put it just inside the henhouse pophole.

Try fixing the light below the barrel if glare/reflection from the mod is a problem.

I once had a box of Norma .357 magnums that had soft hollow-point bullets. They were marked 'Special For Police'.I was never sure whether were meant for shooting AT or BY police. Sounds like they were for use BY police.

I shot a fox once, head-on at about 50 yrds, with a .308. The bullet never exited and it was just like picking up a fertilizer back full of water.

This was happening to me, especially where posts include pictures. I get over it by refreshing the page most times. Ctrl+r The pages are back up to speed at the moment!

I am finding that HuntingLife forum pages are becoming painfully slow to load. Other forums are not suffering the same. Any comments?

The shoots, that I help out on, use plastic whistles. That way, anybody can feed and the tone of the whistle is the same. Some shoots top up their hoppers after dark so that the birds rarely/never see humans except during drives.

12 bore s/s hammer gun with damascus barrells
rjimmer replied to Shoot's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
We want to see you with a usable 12 bore that you have been able to buy without a Shotgun Certificate. Firstly, as I have said, it would be illegal because I wouldn't be buying it as a curiosity or ornament but rather to prove a point. Just do it, or find someone else who can do it. -

It isn't on the HO list though. ANTIQUES The provisions of the Firearms Acts 1968 to 1997 do not apply to any antique firearm held as a curiosity or ornament. The word 'antique' is not defined in the Act, but it is suggested that the categories below should be used as a guide in deciding whether a particular firearm might be considered an 'antique' for these purposes. Part I: Old weapons which should benefit from exemption as antiques under section 58 (2) of the Firearms Act 1968 (a) All muzzle-loading firearms; ( Breech-loading firearms capable of discharging a rim-f -

Not one 12 bore centre-fire shotgun there. 10 bores with 2&5/8 inch chambers are considered obsolete. It isn't on the HO list though. Besides, there are other guns on that page for which ammo is commercially produced. It's irrelevant though. The HO guidance is not law, various cases have shown that to be the case, including the one in which a guy was not convicted of possessing and selling a 7.65mm Luger which is not on the list. You're still ignoring the fact that I have a rifle which chamberes and fires .38 Special ammo. All you are doing is parroting the HO line even thou
