  1. ok hear goes.........my friend and i have just rented 50 acres of ground to make hey for a new venture next year...we have payed £100 per acre per year......i am mad keen on hunting and thought when we rented the ground i would be able to hunt it..well i was fecking wrong!! we have rented the ground NOT the shooting or vermin control on the ground....if you MIL owns the ground its her shout who hunts it not the tennent....if she wants the farmer off he would have to go in reasonable time, not years aint reasonable!!!!!.............
  2. my deer hound x had, well lets say retreving issues when i got him. .so i had to link him being happy to retreveing.and to be fair he will normally retreve ok now..the bad thing is he likes to sing in the house so to get him to retreve you have to sing la la la la to him.which is no problem at all when you are out on your own with the dog BUT when you are with earth n hounds and dogga its a ditterent matter
  3. im interested in what fox calls everyone is using and having the most success with..if somone wants to do a poll i'll delete this thread
  4. good on you chaps...you've been putting some great posts up lately
  5. have a look through the last couple days posts in the deer stalking section.best calibre for fox and roe..theres been a big debate on 243/22-250/223
  6. yes i agree that a jet z is far to much money for a hmr..i put one on mine because i had it knocking about...the diferance in silencing between a sak and a jet z are massive on hmr BUT you cant get rid of the super sonic crack and i wouldnt say the diferance is worth £270...but if im going out with the rifle which we do alot its the hmr thats first out of the cabinet.....
  7. cheers aron!!!! if it aint a million miles away i'd have a look at it......
  8. thought this was brilliant
  9. cheeky feckers....they should of tried living in the ridge's or longbentton 15 years ago!!! now that was rough...
  10. ROT...look up each sill espeacialy on the body mounts....back body/chassis mount behind the bumper, open back door and look downwards....under the carpet were your feet go...get under it and look just in front of the axle the is a piece of 4"tube that runs accross the chassis....boot floor...open back doors and look at the door catch area.... gear box...second gear syncro...on the test drive change into 2nd gear quickly..most of the grind..it aint to bad if they do but better if they dont engine...after test drive undo water header tank, there shouldnt to much pressure.(be very carefu
  11. when i was getting back into my rifle's i used to go out with a chap and all he used was 243 for fox and it did a great job....thinking on now i dont know why i havnt had 243 myself instead of 22-250.........im using 50g v max and 36.6g of varget powder and getting almost match grade accuracy at 300 yards.....what load does the 243 use..ie how much powder?????etc etc
  12. the rifle is a cz452 american that i hacked down to 16" and the moderator has no plastic on at all...will post a pic of it if it helps?????
  13. i use a jet z by default really,i had it on my centre fire....its alot quiter than any of my mates hmr's but its the best part of £300....so i dont know if it can be counted...
  14. 223 isnt a bad round at all really,iv just sold mine to get a 22-250 but to be honest for what you are saying 223 will do the job well....as said above 243 is also a great round...all three calibre's will do the job well for you.....cost of reloading wont be much differant between the calibre's..22-250 and 243 use a little more powder i guess....moderator's are all much of a muchness too....if i were you id find a rifle you really like and get it in the calibre that the rifle for sale is in........
  15. would you swap it for a ferreting spade??? little used and in great condition????
  16. spent a few hours playing with the rifle..have been shooting five pence piece's at 200 yards with out any problems at all,the trigger is brilliant...we went out yesterday night with the rifle and lamp.shot quite a few shots and missed alot more than i was hitting..couldnt understand what was going on???? have just come in tonight and my shooting buddy pointed out the the swivel adjuster was to loose on the bi pod..tightened it up so its hard to move and its shooting bang on again....its always the most obvious things that i tend to miss when looking for problems
  17. put a juel trigger in my remmy 700 vssf 22-250 today..my hands are battered up quite badly and i have no feeling in my fingers so i feel the trigger pull from the back of my hand..the standard remmy trigger gives to much creep so iv changed it and its brought my groups considerably tighter......
  18. i dont like using vets to put my dogs to sleep...my dogs come to work with me go hunting etc, if im out of the house my dogs are with me,when i take them to the vet the get stressed..i truly beleve that it is far kinder on the dog to end there days at home with a bullet.....
  19. light force..had a few problems with the wiring but they have the best beam...had my clulite for years and years and apart from a resister (60p) inside burning out its been great..
  20. you really need to be looking at s&b to get decent quality...but as said before if it aint broke dont fix it.you can easily get sucked into upgrades when you dont actually need them
  21. you know most of the digging lads iv met are ego run little wa#kers....but what you have just said makes alot of sense and to be honest has made me think..your probably right.......i wont be posting anymore one this thread....
  22. hey little man quoting your latin fraze's...bet you feel like a propper hunter...i bet your the type of chap that wears all the right gear for digging?? rigger boots, tracky bottoms, favourite football t shirt, lumberjack shirt..whats a propper terrier you tit???
  23. ok i agree and apologise, but some of these digging lads are so stuck up there own arse's!!!.....i myself arnt into bushing..but im out in the field hunting an awful lot right through the year...what ever a terrier is used for as long as its doing its job well surely it deserve'd respect?
  24. Digging is not an effective means of pest control ?! utter bollocks ! So bushing is harder than digging ? explain please. i have had spaniels, mongrels, collies and other dogs that would all bush, and easier to control than a bushing terrier, and safer to shoot over. Im not saying that terriers are shit at bushing but its true vocation is under the sod ! what utter shite!!! bang your terriers into an earth you kill what ever is down there.....with a rifle you can take the specific fox that is causing a problem..the only talent in digging is the dog.....im not saying that bushing i
  25. if a terrier doesnt work below ground and stay untill dug its NOT a working terrier, lurchers ,hounds , springers etc hunt above ground and thats their job so they can be regarded as working dogs but a terriers job is below ground. that is WORK for a terrier , anything above ground for a terrier is sport, simple as that. if a terrier isnt killing for food its sport!!! digging is SPORT it isnt even an effective means of pest control!!! digging is the easiest form of terrier work the only talent is from the dog....iv never had a problem shooting a problem fox with a rifle....
