  1. a nine year old dog just won best in show now if its nine years old and won ,what was the dog like at say five years old not sure im making my self clear but i would have thought a nine year old dog is not at its peak so what are they looking for when judging your thoughts on it please

  3. ive tried feeding moles and cant say the ferrets liked them much but will eat them if hungry stick with rabbit etc
  4. like some one said if its a hob they do smell a lot more now there balls have dropped ,if its a jill the smell should not be to bad , or is that just ive had ferrets to long

  9. before you start to dig listen at the holes close to where you have a mark and hear if there still doing battle i know it wont work all the time but will give you a better chance sometimes

  11. hi comanche i know how your mate feels about opening ones mouth then falling flat on your face and as for the dog i wish i had her there the night i went out as i think it would have been ten out of ten but im one for not pushing my luck
  12. sorry to hear about your pup mate, gutt renching but why did the vets say to change the diet from raw to tinned food makes you wonder what they know about feeding
  13. a carry on from last night saw steve and myself out with out roy what with the weather, drove past a warren at the side of the lane and steve saw a rabbit sitting out side a hole so we pulled over and thought we would give it a go . started to net up and as we did a rabbit tryed to bolt even before we were ready for the ferrets .with the ferrets in we had three more bolt then one ferret found below ground , i collared one of the hobs up and we [me] started to dig broke threw and pulled not one but two rabbits out but it was not even a dead end they were just in a tube , we then went to do a
  14. just got back from doing a field warren ive had my eye on to do at night for a few weeks. so after laying some 35- 40 nets , down went the two big hobs i choose to use, standing there at night ferreting felt strange but it was so light with the snow you could see easy . the ferrets went to work and at a steady rate the rabbits were bolted. in a 45 minute period 10 rabbits were bolted missing one and i blame the snow freezing the net for that one . any one who hasnt done ferreting at night and got the right ground should have a crack as it was fcuking amazing. out tomorrow with steve and ro
  15. sorry to hear about the ferret we had one last year that came up from a warren and one of its eyes was just hanging out of the socket nothing could be done but to put it out of its suffering .when we put them to ground we all keep our fingers crossed they return safely

  18. no not a hancock but she did come from a non working home, but proveing shes got what it takes to make a good day time rabbiting dog
  19. steve and myself was out with andy {pug} today on some new land andy has just got himself and also bill who andy works with some times came out for hes first ferreting trip . today was going to be long nets and the very first warren we done the rabbit flys out followed by bramble up its arse straight into the long net untangled the rabbit and the dog and one big hole in the long net to repair , still brambles only a pup and the heat of the moment proved to much for her . we carried on and done a couple more warrens and had some great sport from them, and the dog respecting the nets better .
  20. 24/10/10 five babys all came out the same hole today about three weeks old will this colder weather ever kick in and stop them breeding
  21. was out ferreting today with steve and was surprized that when gutting the rabbits (all three of them } that one was heavily pregnant is any one else still finding pregnant or very young rabbits ? roll on some hard frosts and some good old cold winter days
