  1. ...........exept for 1 not docked at all [borders excluded]............Carreg Basically ,just over an inch from the body.Cut cleanly with scissors. What I like to do is pull the skin down towards the tail and feel with your thumb nail for a bone joint .Try to cut between these joints and let the surplus skin you pulled back release over the cut.As a precaution you could spray with purple disenfectant or dip in dilute dettol. If in doubt ,ask someone whos done the procedure to show you .
  2. Definately no big cats roaming England today.Ive been to the site of so called sightings and all I found was dog prints?
  3. My daughter was shown a fox up a tube by the White warrior and is now as hooked as I am.Theres tears on school nights when I go lamping.Like you lads said they are the future.
  4. Personally I wouldnt go lamping without a dog[as stated previous].Perhaps some others would be wise to do the same .Even the landrover lovers could have a dog in the cab for that moment when the shots not quite true.
  5. Question-does the British flack helmet hurt the most or is the Yank equiv better? What I cant understand is why film it other than for training purposes.
  6. So long as your dogs are steady with the ferrets mate ,then go for it.Only do the rat buries in soil to start with and fit the ferret with the micro ferret collar.Rat holes are a lot tighter than rabbit holes hense the need for the smaller collar. The innoculation thing is a shady area as I dont know whether they can be done against leptospirosis ,the rat spread killer. Most farms that have a bad rat problem are untidy and suggesting to the farmer to maybe move a few things like tyres ,bales, sheets of tin and stacked wood, shouldnt be a problem.Buries under concrete are best either smoked out or
  7. From what I can see mate ,they are fox prints. In snow or other soft material there would be a clear tail drag and not foot scuffing.
  8. Brass wire has stood the test of time for rabbit sized critters but anything bigger requires steel wire incorperating a swivel.
  9. Ive allways had more foxes urban than in the country this just shows whats out there if you look Read Darceys chapter on urban foxes, great read.
  10. Hard dogs and cats Once had a terrier in a log pile nearly disembowelled by a farm cat who had the advantage of a hollow log.
  11. Cheers lads.Perhaps in hindsight the dog should have been given longer but its disheartening to see other younger lurchers enjoying a bit of ratting when the immature antics of another piss you off.I still say ,like a few others that a youngster needs to be interested in hunting at an early age if its going to move forward and be a good all rounder.Cant see the point of feeding a dog till its 2 year old in the hope of things turning out right.Likeyou lads said "horses for courses".
  12. A recent experience with a lurcher of bull blood got me thinking about how long you should persivere with a lurcher that shows no inclination to hunt ,catch. The lurcher in question was Im told 13 months old.Long before this I would expect a lurcher of working parents to be well into the "prey drive" section of its life .By this I mean the dog is keen to chase anything that moves, and needs to be restrained rather than encouraged.Personally I would not persivere with a dog that showed no interest in anything at this age-Am I too harsh, expecting too much from a bull breed,or would you expect some
  13. One thing I will add is that -dont be too quick in picking up your ferret after a battle with a rat ,she will be fired up and could inflict a bite . Read plummers book -tales of a rat hunting man. He may have written some untruths in his time but this book is spot on in the advise for ferretting rats
  14. lol [bANNED TEXT] I can vouch for that as I was in the red hilux in the next field.
  15. I went out last night 9-1.30 very quiet half dozen rabbits and 2 foxes must be the conditions where are u in the antartic  Trouble is theres plenty of game but it all looks the same-WHITE
  16. Has anyone heard rumours that the .222 could soon be legal for roe in England and Wales as it is in Scotland.{im aware that its the velocity in Scotland and not the calibre] The sporting media keeps on about the need for a cull so lowering the calibre would bring stalking within range :11: of a lot more people who concentrate mainly on fox.Whats the difference between roe in Scotland to one England or Wales?.
  17. I think shes a aquater lake land, and the rest is just jack russle terrier although i think there may be some border in there from how short her snout is. All the best Rob [/quote Fell type dog to a russel bitch?
  18. Bad timing [bANNED TEXT]!!!!!!!!!! :realmad: shouldnt speak ill of the dead Banks was a wanker and deserves no more mention on a hunting site like this .BOLLOCKS TO BLAIR AND THE ***.
  19. On the scale of things,if we can allow hunting to be banned in this country then the rag head invasion will march on.They see Briton as a soft touch and who can blame them,we are.Personally I would cross the street rather than piss on one on fire.
  20. Cant beat the combination of dog and ferret.
