  1. When you say joints mate do you mean the join to the body.Tails have no joints, they are made up of bones ,36 in all, which get progressively smaller towards the end.If the baldness is at the join to the body then it probably started off as a flea problem.Even when defleaed regular this is where they irritate the dog most .Some dogs lick or bite this area out of habit after a flea attack.I take it the area is not red and inflamed or you would have said.
  2. No matter where it is mate ,never going to please them all.
  3. For those of you old enough to remember the good old days of selling pelts ,what was the best price you ever got ?.
  4. Mate -I have a feeling the crosman rabbitstopper is not up to the full 12ft/lb however if its rats you are after ,the ratcatcher is the best bit of kit I have bought for my type of close up shooting.

  9. What I base my total denial of these cats on is this-There are over a 100 reconised packs of fox hounds in England ,Scotland and Wales, collectively ,not including beagles or staghounds.Whilst I am the first to admit and acknowledge that these hounds are not trained on a cat scent,I refuse to believe that if these cat exist that a pack of hounds would not drive one from cover or tree one .If they had believe me we would all know about it!Also why is it when a big cat is sighted ,no-one is at hand to shoot it and no-one can find pug marks anywhere in the area belonging to a big cat .DREAMERS, AL
  10. Ryseway-Check the silencer end mate {if fitted} ,is it an oval shape as opposed to a true circle. If so the silencer is knackered and should be replaced. This oval end definately throws the shot out .The mags on the 10-22 should be washed out in soapy water ,dried and lightly oiled .Do not keep them in your pocket as they collect dust faster than anything and this is what causes jamming.Personnally I set the sights for 70 yds as most of the rabbits we lamp are at or around this distance .With practice its possible to judge shots out to 100 and as close as a few yds.Set at 70 ,a rabbit at 5 yds r
  11. Hogs can bolt away quickly. Some folks take lurchers along just for that reason. But they will easily slip away into their next den given the chance. We've had a hog get out of the snare and let the russell go to catch it, which worked too. They're not as fast as a rabbit, Quality mate .You are a lucky chap.
  12. I use a .222 very regular and clean it every 10 shots. The last batch of bullets bought were my usual Federal 50grain but the zero at 100yds has moved up 30mm.This change is consistant with 15 shots fired .The scope has not been knocked to my knowledge. Is there that much fluctuation in factory loads. p.s I buy 300 at a time so maybe somethings changed at the factory .Anybody else had this with Federal.
  13. What sometimes happens when teaching a terrier to retrieve shot stuff is what we call red eye .If the quarry to be retrieved is still alive and flaps ,bites or scratches then the eyes glase over and the kill mode sets in followed by rag and sometimes eat .I used to require my terriers to retrieve but now I let them kill. My lurchers however ,must retrieve .I always laugh at people who moan about having to walk out to a lurcher that hasnt been taught retrieve .
  14. Ownly joking Mark .Didnt take long to get a bite either . mark -are you a bricklayer? Rained off myself today .
  15. IT IS A HORSE The best way to break a dog to live stock is with an older dog that is already steady when the young dog sees the older one is calm & is not taking an interest it makes training alot easier . there is a differance between brakeing a dog to sheep than breaking it to cattle & horses ...to break a dog to sheep you have to stop the dog giving chase ...cause sheep will always run away from you & a young dogs instict is very strong to chase something that is running away from it ...to break a dog to cattle & horses which will not run away but by there inquisitiv
  16. If no-one comes up with a better answer mate then this is what I WOULD DO.Wait till the dog is in full howling mode and creep up to the kennel {if poss}with a half bucket of water .Throw the water in the dogs face pretty hard .Repeat if necessary .Harsh but has always worked on howlers for me .

  20. Nice pics mate .Keep them coming. Are hogs fast above ground and are they suitable for a lurcher.
