  1. What peoples opoinions on how much a pup is influenced by the amount and type of work it receives in its first year.
  2. If thats its litter mates on the left then you are definately onto a loser .Cut your loses now before you get too attached to it .Sounds like its got no intestines . Sorry to be so abrupt .
  3. Unbelievable. Should have shot the lot and saved yourelf a vet bill[if there ever was one ] :realmad:
  4. Looks like hot work mate ,good going you lucky buggers.
  5. I think, how does a short legged bulldog get two foot in the air to line a greyhound. just seen an advert for a knocker box and wondered what it was, I'd like to think that was the answer.
  6. Do you want to finish this sentence or what ?.
  7. What about cubs too small to be out [not trying to catch you on any ethical crap]. Have you ever tried the warreners way of pitting a den .-Dig hole ,vixen in ,cubs in that night . Just wondered if youve ever tried it .
  8. Feck my old boots .Just had a moan about fast text on the one above .Kids eh.
  9. Sorry to be an old moaning fart but its a sign of the times .Mobile phones are the cause of this fast text shite.Walk amongst a gang of these youths and hear they even talk like it .
  10. Both parents can be seen-give me a months notice while I trace a lad I went out with . Taking 3 out of 4 hares regular-As long as the gate nets set right . Free to good home -PLEASE.
  11. In your work mate you must get asked to remove a fox this time of year and end up snaring/trapping a wet vixen .Is there any easy way to account for cubs ,providing you can find the earth. foxdropper.
  12. Someone who knows their dogs! Any PACK of dogs ,terriers, hounds, running dogs, mixtures, will have strong individuals that we as workers of dogs need to keep in their place .From what Ive seen of the plumber terrier ,they are all strong willed individuals that all need a piece of the action.Fair play to anyone who can keep a small pack of these from scrapping in their own ranks. Locke says about several dogs on a rat whilst others get away ,which if the d.v.ds are right is what happens, this to me is unnacceptable. The jealousy factor ,strong will, call it what you like ,gets in the way of thes
  13. Still not convinced. The only thing barking around that bury was you two .The vixen does the barking and only if she feels the cubs are threatened. No fox barks as it approaches an earth with cubs ,unless trying to call the cubs to safety ,otherwise it would give them away.We have dug more than one vixen in a cubbing den but only one was ever wet .The dog in the earth you dug Mik may shed some light on it though .I shot a dog fox some years ago on the lamp that was carrying a well dead ,partly eaten cub .This fact and the fact that Ive never shot a dog coming in to an earth is what makes me thin
  14. It only takes one anti in the wrong place to stir it up .That lad now has a file on him for a suspected firearms offence :realmad:
  15. Dogs can be done any ages after 6 monyhs (sometimes before) bitches to (they dont have to have a season). Doesnt affect them in the slightest plenty of info on internet, look for yourself. "Dosnt affect them in the slightest " Mate ,a castrated dog is the lowest of the low in the pecking order of a pack [if the animals are roughly same age].I can only speak from what Ive seen but a mate had a lurcher dog given to him that I knew took fox .That was before he was castrated and now he runs beside and barks his head off?.Only my experience with one dog .
  16. Brock-Take no notice of the hard men on here .They probably cant train a dog to any standard .Car ,slip ,kennel merchants. The fact that your dog may have seen a deer is no excuse for worrying either.Dogs chase sheep because they are slow ,easy and noisy.A dog of any sort easily distinguishes between what its allowed to hunt and what its not. These lessons need reinforcing sometimes ,especially as in your case ,the dog was lead astray by another untrained dog .It happens . The pack urge is still strong in all our breeds. In the use of the collar mate ,no matter which type -You need to zap the
  17. I put this up as I was aked to go and shoot the dog after the vixen was shot on a nearby farm.I was more concerned that the cubs were accounted for so took along a terrier .No need to as they were in some small bales and not far in .Never seen a dog fox near a cubbing earth in all the time I ve waited up for vixens.
  18. What if your using fishing line and after baby rabbits .Oooooonly joking
  19. Having read the thread right through [hard going] it makes you want to open a can of pedigree chum . much simpler.
  20. If you are set on a mixed raw diet mate ,then socks is spot on .Mince it so the dog cant sort out any bits it dont like.
  21. Does anyone have any evidence that the dog fox plays any part in the rearing of cubs .
  22. Dont it make you spit bullets. :realmad: :realmad: :realmad:
