The one I have is made in Korea, called Duke, looks a lot like the one you have. Some are really US made, but not a lot Think the Minnesota brand is US made. http://www.snareshop.com/products.asp?dept=59 I keep these just as part of a small collection, heavily illegal to use in this country ! [/u Couple of French and British rattraps, will see if I can get a picture of the Duke

.22 Baracuda Hunter Extreme Vs Bisley Magnum !!
ratbuster replied to drid's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The Hunter Extreme is a H&N Baracuda pellet with a crossed hollowpoint head, weights a couple grains less than the original pellet. I've tried them in my .25 Stealth (don't have them in .22 ) 28.4 grain versus 31 grains. Out to 40 meters they behave similar, further away the Bara is much more accurate. I use them in a .25 FAC Stealth, doing 50 fpe+ Accuracy wise I would go for the Bara's / Bisley Magnums (same pellet ) Under 40 meters the Hunter is impressively devastating, doing a lot of damage ......, but anything hit with a Baracuda in the right place won't do much either. -

But you still have the old trusted .22 rimfire at hand..... I remember the time (not that long ago) you could buy shotguns and rimfire rifles (even single shot pistols in .22 rf ) in the French Supermarche's without any form of licence. Those were the days, but regarding EU law the French had to adjust their legislation according the Brussels rules, so that's no longer a go go. The once quite liberal gun laws have changed for the worse every where in Europe, they all have to comply with EU legislation. More urban, than countryside orientated, these laws...... -

In the countryside the humble air rifle is used quite a lot to do some " vermin control " technically this would be classified as poaching: unauthorized rifle, no hunting licence etc, but most give a damn about it keeping the magpies down and the jackdaws is a great way to keep your hunting skills in and give the rifle an airing Even more sillier, one can legally own a black powder proofed , pre 1945 made .410 or 9 mm Flobert without a licence ........ only the ammo goes on ticket, which you can get if you're part of a shooting club. .410 ammo is almost unobtainable, but 9 and 6 mm F -
I have a Supersport which looks quite similar. Lightning was based on the SS if I'm right.

A little enlightening on Dutch hunting laws: you first have to pass an exam (which will cost you something in the region of € 3500 (getting tuition on shooting a shotgun, exam fees etc)) than you have to get your insurance, a minimum of 40 hectares in one piece and then you're allowed to hunt: rabbit, hare, mallard, woodpigeon and (non existing) pheasant, this all under rather strict rules. Other quarry only with special permits issued by the regional authorities . Pheasants only wild stock, no rearing allowed .... The guns you're allowed to use are : 12 bore, 16 bore, 20 bore & 24 bor -

Daft legislation, but not so daft as in my country We don't have any restriction on the power output of our air rifles, but you can only use them for target practice and FT / HFT. I can own a 150+ fpe .45 airrifle without a licence, but can only use it as a plinking gun Shooting a pest or whatever is totally out of the question. Even a .410 shotgun is forbidden to use against vermin, and besides that you need a hunting licence and a permission to use a shotgun or rifle. So having all the power in the world (air rifle wise ) is of no use if you can't use it properly. Cheers, -
Had never heard of a Nooski Rat system so had a go at Google and found this: http://www.pestcontroldirect.co.uk/acatalo...tml#anooskitrap So for everybody who doesn't know what the system is about, have a look. Sounds like a real genius idea to me, but if it works.... ? Take care Ratbuster (just red that I have to write it all down )

I'll give it a try from French to Dutch to English. Utilisés couramment pour les souris et les rats. Réalisés en fil d’acier, très légèrement huilé avec un ressort inversé et une mouchette pour mettre l’appât. Existe en 4 DIMENSIONS 11 cm Petite souris 13 cm souris 15 cm mulots et petits rats 18 cm gros rats Normally to be used on mice and rats, made out of steelwire, trigger & spring going very easily with (spring)hook to put bait on. After getting the right name of these traps from OTC I started Googling and found this: http://www.ediloisir.com/catalogue/boutiqu...cat=piegeage_62 They are still for sale and indeed French made, advertised as useable for vermin (nuisibles) and rats & mice (rats & souris) Cheers, RB -

Thank you OTC, You made me a wiser man Will have to work out how to adjust the trigger, so they will "snapp" more easier than they do at the moment. And NO I won't use them to catch birds! (but could give them a try on some mice in the shed, baited with a small piece of bacon) The only animals which are allowed to be trapped in Holland are rats & mice, nothing else. (These traps came also with a tube of ratting glue, looks Italian made) Cheers, RB -
In Holland we don't have a restriction on the power output of our airrifles, only we are not allowed to hunt with them The problem with the callibers is within the poweroutput of your gun, 12 fpe is doing best in .177, flatter trajectory, so more precise to hit the target. But the same gun in say 25 fpe will perform better in .22, less wind sensitive, flat shooting and hard hitting! I also have . 20 & .25 calibers and my Theoben in .20 (12 fpe) hits as hard as a .22 with the new JSB's Exact in 15.2 grains (same weight as a standard .22 pellet) and .25 is coming in its own when g

Hello, Found these a while ago, but I'm not sure about the proper use of this type of trap. Do I have to modify the trigger and on what type of quarry are they used ; rats or birds ??? They are made out of brass / steel wire, they look handmade and have different sizes. All info appriciated, cheers, Ratbuster

Hello, Could any one direct me where to get a # 3 bore or a .410 shot-pistol in the UK. I know that these were quite popular when you could have them on a SG certificate, so there must by many around ? Thanks & take care, Hans

Hello, I've got a couple of single shot pistols in .22, 6 mm & 9 mm (#1 & 3 bore) and 4 mm rimfire. Especially the 4 mm is used quite a lot to dispatch rats in the lifetrap etc. It comes with short and long cartridges doing between 12 and 16 FPE, more than enough to get that squirrel down and very easy to silence; problem with this gun is the fact that it's hard to get the right ammo. In .22 I have a 1950 Webley single-shot pistol and a Chech made one, both are very accurate as long as I do my part (max distance 15 - 20 meters) the big plus about a .22 is the various am

Hello, Have a .25 FAC MPT myself, doing 27 fpe with Bisley Pest control. Nice gun, deadly on rats, bought it from somebody in Wales which used it to shoot Hares with it. Take care, Hans
