  3. Cheers white one 1/4 collie 3/4 whippet and brindle saluki whippet grey
  4. Iv seen people bolt them from tree roots and holes in trees with ferrets ect but never had one to ground in a rabbit warren, tbf the dogs were marking it alot more excitedly than they normally would, I wonder if on our approach the dogs put it to ground they usually go ahead of us and mark warrens, shame they didn't catch it
  5. Cheers, shame they missed that squirrel tho
  6. Nice lil day on the Warren's yesterday anyone else bolted a squirrel from a warren? Was a first for us
  7. Solid looking lil Russell that
  8. I appreciate all the views and feedback mate
  9. Too much mild weather, we've only had real cold weather last week apart from that it's been mild, annoying as I have a big shoot that opens up to me by February no doubt I'll be seeing youngsters
  10. No not yet none of my hobs have are yours under any artificial lights like in a garage shed ect iv heard of that bringing them in
  11. Thanks yeah a couple pregnant does, pretty much catch pregnant ones all season now
  12. Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching
  13. Tbh iv not seen it make a huge difference to them bolting we talk and have a laugh while ferreting and enjoy the day out its a social as much as a bit of pest control
  14. Yeah was decent could of done with a couple more stop nets but we know for next time, back there Sunday so should do a bit better
  15. And with that gas gun going off I doubt the rabbits were fussed
  16. They'll either bolt or ill dig to them either way we get em dug one so it didn't make much of a difference
  17. Checking out some new ground saturday decent amount there had a good walk around to scope the ground out then did some warrens to make a start, enjoy
  18. Them big dogs are usually slow to mature and later starters, give him time he will click impatience to start can sometimes ruin what would be a decent dog
  19. You can't really train them to mark time and experience and they'll do it naturally....the biggest mistake I see people making with a young dog is encouraging it to mark warrens and when the dog sticks its nose near they praise it......automatically the dog will register that behaviour is praised and you'll get a false marker
  20. Any working lurcher will get knocked if there worked regularly my whippet took her fair share as does my lurcher.....anyone that says they've been "lucky" and there dogs escaped any sort of injury is just plain bullshitting about working there dog.....speed and obstacles aren't a good mix and it's never a case of "if" it's "when"......most people at working dog shows are pretenders you won't see them our ferreting on a cold morning or out lamping on a rough night
  21. My mates lurcher had similar issues also an outside toe.....had it taken off and tbh hasn't effected the dogs ability and no trouble with the other toes so far
  22. When a dog has the blinkers on it ain't looking out for obstacles it's never a case of if it happens more when
  23. If your happy with how the dog performs and with how many your catching then what anyone else thinks is irrelevant really if it only runs what it thinks it can catch and your happy with that then great, I like a dog that will run anything I slip it on the amount of bunnies that end up being turned off a hedge or cover and end up in the bag that you'd of thought would just hop to safety, likewise when they do make it to cover a lot of the time iv had a dog follow them in hedges and catch them where they've just sat in the hedge or rough
