    Good thread can only go back to the late sixties and there was terrier lads who had lurchers for drawing and running but only daytime in fact there wasnt a great number of foxes local to me then wed get the odd one following when lamping but we never bothered them. In the next ten years the amount soon doubled then tripled we were seeing them waiting to come into the town as we were on our way out of it funny i thought at the time. It was that time that merle was written that everyone had a crack at them on the lamp more often than not just to say the dog could take them.

    True it was in there to start with but the owner couldnt see it my old mate was a sod for spotting good dogs with kids hed let them come out with him a few times and tell them the dog was no good then offer to buy it off them i swear some kids are better than adults at entering reckon its the keeness rubbing off on the dog.

    A bit of bull goes a long way i personally think they have done a fair bit of good to the lurcher srains but its not suprising that the deerhound is coming back in the right blooded deerhounds give great nose and feet.

    Theres been at least a dozen ice ages in the northern hemisphere more than likely the trees would have been long gone and the brown hares with them if they were ever here pretty sure theres no fossil records for browns that date that far back interestingly they say irish hares are from the ice age as some of ireland didnt get covered heres a piece worth a read. http://www.hare-pres...o.uk/irish.html

    Theres a few that reckon when we were connected to mainland europe during the last ice age and thats when the brown hare came here. Its a mammal thats always been run that alone is bound to keep the speed there and nowadays better fodder crops for them to survive. On a few places ive been to over the years the odd ones know how to go to ground as well when pressured is this getting passed on i wonder .

    Theres a theory we lived at one time by scaring them off their catches and getting what meat was left and also breaking the bones of carcasses if that were the case surely wed be watching them and waiting for their kills. Theres records of a few a few humans been brought up by different wild animals read a few things about wild kids the gazell boy was very interesting if a wild animal can bring up a human the other way round youd think would be easy.

    Crackin looking pup shame she has to go feet do look flat but should come right if shes never been walked mind seen a few run like that and it never bothered em catching atb with getting her a decent home hopefully one that keeps her and runs her .     Have culled large litters in the past and would do again. Only ever bred when ive needed to keep a line going so not very often but the pups are usually ordered before birth sooner gift a pup to the right home than sell it on to a stranger.

    A lot of breeds of dog are useless and quite a few breeds far apart from what they were origanily bred for. Some of the old line lurchers still have a lot of wild ways about them having pups in holes regurgitating food etc one of the things that endeared me to the old traveller bred stock was the feral ways it had and craftyness in abundance.

    Seen a few hares with scabby noses and pussed up eyes crop sprays and diesel in puddles a vet mate of mine reckoned can remember hares in a few places with chalk bones as well legs that would break when they were running. Dont know if they still use it but there was a crop spray they were allowed to use that if the crop was eaten within 24 hrs it used to kill them ive found them next to their prints in soft sand stone dead they used to spray the winter seed with it at a time of year when the hares would be travelling to it as there wasnt much better fodder about.

    Had a first cross off Hancock 1980 ish out of a linden eland bred bitch litter sister to the chuckles dog out of chuck arrosmiths gyp a genuine lamping collie Only got the one pic of her she ran hard for five seasons on the lamp always carried alive to hand broke two toes on her right foot and had to be retired a good honest bitch.

    The dogs in this line have been tested to the max on the quarry they were bred for great to see a pic of dawn on here her owner showed a few older lads up at the time im led to believe real well put together bitch the dog in my avatar has seagull blood in him as well as other old lines .

    What does that prove? And how does it go against anything that Sandy said? Nobody is denying that genetics can be manipulated artificially in a lab. That however is a long way from what Painless is suggesting. Is it thats evidence of human genetic experimentation theres a whole lot more been done spider genes in goats etc etc and thats what the powers that be let you know about.     Has she taken on the drum again ? i like luckys style asked about the boxing when i first joined the forum was told it was from the saluki but my mates old line does and no sal in them i love the way the breed hurd their hares i believe most lurchers given the chance wil learn to do the same but i also believe in passing abillitys on and thats what this line does to a pure i reckon they will do the buisness and to a pure of the right breeding like mars x lucky it should be the litter to watch atvb.

    Probably turn out that us dogs cattle sheep etc have all been genetically modified from the start just like we are genetically modifing things today till they find all the missing links i will go with that theory and say no more on the subject atvb.

    Done it once all the litter had heart defects its up to you at the end of the day but i wouldnt half brother to half sister or aunts and uncles to nephews and neices and grandparents to grandkids is as close as id be going.
