Funnily enough I've always done the same thing.... Having said that; there is nothing wrong with a bit of lead shot. Had pheasant curry last night and some 6 shot is lingering in the bottom of the bowl this morning....

Pack it with grease when you put the new spring in. Many years ago I played around with some air rifles and different springs. The standard BSA spring produced better and more consistant results than an Ox or a Titan.

Here ye go: http://www.airgunspares.com/store/ John Knibbs. My advice would be to use the standard spring in it. The square section springs won't give you any more power in a meteor but will rattle it to bits and cost you accuracy.

Don't let the customer dictate! If they know best, why have they got you in? Choose the most suitable method for the job in hand. Ideally before you price the job. Lay out your terms and conditions and supply full method statements for your proposed works.

Get it right and there's good money to be made. Get it wrong and you'll end up the same way as the majority; poor. I've been in this game for a long time, and it's certainly changed over the years. When I started out there were far fewer small businesses, and as long as you could compete with the big boys, and had a good idea what you were doing it was perfectly possible to make a good living without getting any bits of paper or joining any organisations. I'm not very keen on waving spotlights around when banting in. I've got a little Yukon monocular that I use when night time netting. I check the field before setting the net, have a quick gander when the net is up and then quietly walk the bunnies in. As for dogs; I've never had one that I would be happy was steady enough for the job. One of the beauties of long netting is it's simplicity. Hi Matt, Can you attend anyone’s PC meetings, or only the parish where you live? You can attend any parish council meeting. I don't think there would be any problem with an outsider attending and asking why they are ignoring the obvious health and safety issues, but I don't think you can push too hard unless you are a parishioner though. It may be worth speaking to your District Councillor, and also have a look at the PC minutes to see when the field was last risk assessed for the liability insurance (that may be the question to ask). Things will most likely come to a head when the grass cutters see the state of it in the spring.... it happened here; no-one bothered for years, and then the grass cutters moaned when they had to have their mowers re-ground.... then they started renting the field to an 'outside' football team who moaned like hell.
