    It’s called “Christmas cake “ in the racing dog world, but I’ve never seen it in whippet racing, and I’m sure there is drug testing in greyhound racing where there is gambling. Cheers.

    Pedigree whippets have their own organisation, but we have classes for peds and non- peds at most, if not all ,clubs. Obvioulsly , to win a Racing Championship in the pedigrees , is just as successful as winning in the non-peds, but pedigree whippets simply can’t compete with a non- ped whippets for speed. Yes, of course non-ped whippets are heavily greyhound influenced, but that’s the point, to get a dog the size of a whippet with the speed of the greyhound. I can see where this will go, but it is what it is, the pedigree racers do their thing, the non-ped racers do their thing

    Max and I get on well but we are polar different in our football, but I can make the distinction between football and dogs. He’s a dog man whose bred winning greyhounds and coursing dogs, now he’s on a quest to breed a lurcher as fast as a non-ped whippet. I help him in supplying the breeding of the non-peds he’s interested in and hope he gets what he’s after. Cheers.

    My mate who owns that wee vardo travels all over in it. He said to me the other day “ we are going on the hammocks up the borders , do you fancy it ? “ I said let me see what the weather forecast is on my iPhone, it was forecast showers so I said I’d give it a miss !     It’s a philosophical question mate, a teacher can only pass on his knowledge, a pupil has to accept it and build on it . Children need to be taught HOW to think; not WHAT to think. It may be too late for mC but I’ll never give up ! LOL ! Cheers.

    Sharky, you should read the book “The Throwback “ by Tom Sharpe. Explaining how his hounds are so good to his grandson he’s says they are two thirds foxhounds, one third greyhound and one third wolfhound. The grandson says “ but that is four thirds “! The granddad says “ that is why they are so good “ ! A bit like mC’s dogs….. Cheers.

    It’s certainly a reason to celebrate mate ! I remember paying mine off five years early, it wasn’t a big thing as the rent from the house when I was living abroad basically paid the mortgage, but the feeling that the place was YOURS and you didn’t owe anyone anything was a great feeling !
