  1. Greyhound/Bedlington/Collie/Saluki/Deerhound/Whippet or any mixture of the afore mentioned !! There is no "best cross". Cheers.
  2. "it was one time a year..." that may be so if you only went to the Waterloo Cup I must of been lucky to of been out 3-4-5days a week and that statement would apply to any coursing meeting not just the Waterloo Cup Y.I.S Leeview I was talking about the Waterloo in particular, as thats what the thread is about; but I must agree, at the Coquet & Border in the 60s & 70s the flanking lines were made up of miners from the Ashington area and a lot of shipyard workers from the Tyneside area. Cheers. in the 70,s the beaters at alrcar were TA soldiers one of the co

  4. aye and the clubs and the rich landowners are still coursing within the law, Its us the majority that bears the brunt of the ban and pays the price in our pockets when we get caught. This law is like the old forest laws of old keeping us of the land... Hare Coursing was, before the ban, and still is, ilegal to me, as I never had permission anywhere. I enjoyed going to my local coursing club, The Border & Coquetdale, and enjoyed the Wateloo, but there was never any chance of me running a dog at either meets ! I simply wasn't in any of the cliques. But that never stopped the enjoymen
  5. In the "old days", it was standard practice to give a "dropper" to a racing Whippet, Greyhound, or coursing dog; just to let it have an easy kill, let it taste some warm fur and give it a bit of confidence ! It is, of course totaly illegal to do that now ! Cheers.
  6. Getting back on topic.... I miss the Waterloo Cup, 'cause it was the one time of year when Lords and layabouts, accountants and coal miners, pillars of society and scallys, could all get together with one thing in common .....RUNNING DOGS !!!! Social standing, rich and poor, didn't matter a shit, all got excited when the Hare came thru' and the Slipper started running !!! There was cheers when the Hare made her escape and cheers when the Greyhound made a good kill ! It's a part of life that old blokes like me will not see again, and young lads in the game can only dream about ....... Cheer
  7. What's this got to do with "dropped rabbits" ????? Cheers.
  8. On each of the three days of the last Waterloo Cup, I asked for an extra card; the guy asked why ? I said I wanted one to fill in and one to keep in mint condition for framing as it would probably be the last one ever. He said no problem, I have them put away safe, but will frame them sometime. Cheers.

  11. I used to attend the Border & Coquetdale Coursing Club, in Northumberland; and I can assure you there were no "netted hares" run there !! Cheers.
  12. I was there for the full three days of the last Waterloo Cup. Had a great time, laughing when the police car went into the ditch, baiting the anti's and generally having a good time. Had to laugh when a scally pinched a load of collars from a stand and the owner asked "did anyone see what he looked like ?", and one wag said "I think he was wearing a Barbour jacket !" LOL !!! Saw some terrific Greyhounds run, and also one or two that I wouldn't give kennel room !! I particularly liked the little American bitch, Cashels Evening, I think it was called. I videod most of it, including the final, an
  13. Glad you and K enjoyed the weekend ! Me and P did !!!

    Cheers.

  14. Delta; from this; To this; Lima; from this; To this; Cheers.
  15. Another ANTI trying to get a bite !! Just delete these fuckers as soon as they post !!
  16. LOL !! The only house dog I've had was my old Doberman, and when we put laminate flooring in, she was like "Bambi On Ice" !! As for the pup in question; it's impossiblr to tell from one pic, so I'd suggest a trip to a vet for a professional opinion. Cheers.
  17. Yes, they would strengthen up once the pup was active, would they be perfect... Who knows? Why not have a Greyhound vet take a look and give a professional opinion ? Cheers.
  18. Wrists and ankles, in human terms, mate. Cheers.
  19. That pic looks more like weak pasterns and hocks than flat feet to me. Cheers.
  20. Dogs are born with good, bad or indifferent feet ! If a pup has bad feet, there's nothing you can do about it, no amount of road work will make bad feet into good feet ! But then again, I've seen dogs with "bad feet" do the job they were bred for without any problems ! Good luck with the pup Cheers.
  21. It probably doesn't cost one penny of EXTRA tax payers money to police the Ban ! WHY ??? Because all police costs are budgeted for and any costs that fall in ordinary police time won't make any difference if a cop is sitting on his arse in a cafe or chasing us across fields ! The big extra costs is in overtime, policing demonstrations like the recent student protests, or giving police protection, 24 hours a day to minor royals ! As for helicopters; I've had the b*****ds on me quite a few times, as a few lads on here who have been with me can verify, but it doesn't, (once again), add a penny to
  22. Are you sure she's a Deer/Grey mate ? Looks like she's a Merle ? Any Collie in there ? Cheers.
  23. Well, I'll never tire of putting this pic up on Deer/Grey threads, as I think she is a good example ! 18 month old, 29" and around 75lb ! Doing exactly as I would want and expect at this stage; Cheers.
  24. I can't imagine a Foxhound adding anything to a Lurcher breed, but if you insist, then you should use a Fell Hound, which, after all has a good bit Greyhound blood in their lines. And, eventualy, will come back to you !! Cheers.
  25. Baldyback Courser; you obviously started this thread to get a reaction...and you DID ! But to have a go at women Lurcher owners is just wrong ! I don't know many, in fact theres only one or two who I class as REAL dog women, and Moll is one of them; at least she has dogs and works them regularly, unlike most who jump in on these threads ! Cheers.
