Hi Whin, I've just mated 2 of my grews, one to a non-ped whippet x bedlington and another bitch to a first cross greyhound x bedlington, we are coming back into lurchers again. Speaking of Dave Sleight, its ages since I've seen him, he's a good dog man and a good poacher did you know is mate Sean Mitchell? Hi mate, good to see you getting back into the Lurchers ! What made you go down the Bedlington route ? I'm sure your grews will be a great addition to the Lurcher blood. How are the two Grews that you have mated bred ? Are you going to the open at Cambois on Sunday ? Cheers. -

I still enjoy a saturday or sunday morning at Westerhope or the Rising Sun to watch the Whippets, and have a craic, and they both make Lurchers welcome, and I often give mine a run or two. I't's a shame there isn't as many dogs as in the heydays, but at least it's still going, and producing some outstanding dogs ! Cheers. -
I've been in the dog game a long, long time, and it doesn't get any easier when you loose a dog ! I had to PTS my old Doberman last year, and my 17 year old Saluki before that. As most are saying, get another pup, and start again. All the best, mate. Cheers.

Aye and I have a bitch here that has large litters but cannot handle them no mater what but reduce that to 5/6 and she does well and so do the pups to me it is all about recognising the fact that she was struggling and acting on it Then why he hell line the bitch if she can't handle them? Cheers. Because she is an excellent bitch with lots of traits that I find desirable and is ideal for continuing the line and with due respect till she had been lined how would you know if she could handle them or not?? ERR, with due respect; it was YOU who said she couldn't handle

There are some stuningly fast "non-ped" Whippets in the country, Don't forget, some of these are at least half Greyhound, and a lot of them are just Greyhounds bred down to racing Whippet size. But then again, the BWRA sold it's soul when it raised it's wheight limit from 32lb, tto 55lb !!!!! For Gods sake, smaller Greyhounds have won the Waterloo Cup!! I'm not knocking the "Non-Ped", far from it, I think they are tremendous dogs and have a great deal to put into Lurcher breeding. Cheers. -

Lets be fair here ! Runts are runts, and no matter how many people say THEIR runt turned out to be the best in the litter, the vast majority of runts either die or are not as good as their siblings ! Lets get real; this is HUNTING LIFE, not JACKONORY ! Many runts have been succesfuly brought on, but, in general, the runt of a litter is usualy the worst. Cheers.

I got banned from another site for mentioning "culling", but surely if people put more thought into breeding and bred less litters, and only from the best; there would be no need to cull ? Cheers.

Rocky;it's great that you champion the "big dogs"; but lets be fair..... I've owned everything from Whippets to Deerhound X's, and ran them all on rabbits; but a 29" to 31" dog MAY catch rabbits....... but a good 23" to 26" dog SHOULD do far better than the BIG dogs on rabbit !! ATB mate !! Cheers.

Did you paint that yourself Chart ? I acquired some herris fencing and started painting it, I done about two meshes and then decided the natural look was better lol No mate, it came in red ! It is usualy un-painted; but I'll take it in any colour if it's for nowt !! Cheers.

Just chicken wire mate. The dogs are out most of the day and once they are fed and settled, they don't move, In fact, they could both jump out the run if they wanted to, but they dont. Cheers. cheers mate trying to find some decent mesh for the run but its proving a tough job at a decent price! im in 2 minds weather to use chicken mesh just incase the dog just pulls it off the frame if he wants to get out the run Chicken mesh is useless if a dog even scratches at it.
