  9. That's Potch in the top photo B.It's Jasper in the box with his sister Ruby(the small pipe cleaner one) .He's fine B cost us over £200 to get him right this spring as he had a bad infection off his vasectomy. He had the most fun today & killed in....just your sort of fella
  10. I would'nt leave whole carcase in the court for no more than 24hrs throughout autumn/winter.The flies have only started to die off the last fortnight or so up here,so still got to be careful. My 5 will leave the back legs usually so it ain't worth keeping it in the court for a extra few hours over the 24hr period.
  11. Well the missus has defiently got the ferreting bug finished work yesterday & she says "Are we out tommorow?"well how could i refuse .Arrived at the top quarry for 9:30am,grey sky,no wind, the workers for today 2 hobs & small jill. The place i park the motor, the last two times i've seen a rabbit sat at a small burrow across the road in a field,we had a look at it & it turned out to be a well used 12 plus holer.Ran the quickset round it,hob & jill in,bolted 3 but 1 rolled the net get you next time. We did several small sets in the quarry with no one at home.We moved up to the
  12. kin'ell B thought the myxi had hit the numbers!!!Nice to read you've gave the jills a run out cracking bag & your old man's smiling...you still being nice to him
  13. Greyhound ferrets ...well the 3 jills i have at the moment are all different shapes & sizes.1 is small enough to fit in the palm of my hand, the other is long, slender, pointed face & arched back, the other is broad faced & shaped like a wedge.Personaly i don't care what type of fert they are as long as they are of a pleasent nature, sociable & do their graft when asked. A good working fert is worth it's weight in rabbits regardless of size,type...IMO.
  14. I've had my AA410c .22 for 3 years now,i only shoot in the warmer months & ferret the winter. The only thing that has happended to my gun is i lost the safety catch this year, wear & tear cost about £4 to replace . The gun gets a wipe down with a silicone cloth after being handled so my blueing is fine, the magazine has fired countless pellets with out a problem & the safety catch has always been fine. The accuracy is as good as i shoot it i've took some rabbits at 40-50yds in good conditions & for me that shows how good of gun it is. I take it the Daystate cost more.....
  15. Trust you to be different Kay! We all know Kay is different,in a special kinda way Mal
  16. I ferret 99% of the time by meself...by choice.Once you get to know the land, sets & rabbit habits ie were their (likely) to bolt from you can set nets, stop nets & longnets accordingly. If you have the avantage of a marking running dog all the better . Yes it's full on by yourself but that's the way i like it...keeps you on your toes. However when i ferret in company i do enjoy it the problem is finding a person with the same commitment to be out regular as everyone's social/family & work life is different.
  17. Amazing what you can fit in a Micra boot P&G good bag
  18. Great pics K The myxi came a month early at my place but at the moment it(hopefully) has'nt had the impact it had last year.I'm out with the rimfire tomorrow so i'll get some idea wether it's finished for the year . Looks like your a bit higher up on the Dale than me so the myxi could have been more prevelant...maybe's

  20. Had a invite from Ace 32 to have a mooch around his land at Tynedale. He had his 2 young jills & hob, meself 2 jills.Arrived at the farm mid morning, grey sky & slight breeze on the way to the burrows we seen a few rabbits sitting out so hopefully should bag 1 or 2.We started on a couple of small sets however these drew a blank further along we did manage to bolt 2 but due to a missed bolthole no rabbits in the bag . We then headed off to some land further away but still drew a blank after doing several small sets. However all was not lost we drew up at the farm down the road, spoke to
