Think you've got me twisted mate. Dont remember sayin anything about her being "worth breeding", simply referring to age and amount of seasons she'll have had. Worst case I've only got one season to get through before any accidental pregnancy wouldnt f**k her up. That help?

Well, I dont know why I was worried. Minus a few nerves from my bitch when he first came bounding over, that couldn't have gone smoother. Both currently passed out on the back seat of the car as we drive home. Happy lad!

Appreciate the responses fellas, thank you. Wasn't aware that its common practise to kennel males with a bitch if not alone nor that the bitch is often the dominant... still pretty green with lurchers so always learning!... and there was me thinking he'd take her down a peg, haha. The dog has a decent temperament.. comes from a house with 2 whippets so he shouldn't be too much for my whip X, even if he is like Arnie in comparison. Nice to know common sense prevails in this instance, just wanted to have the advice of a few more experienced lurcher men.

Long story short, a lad is having to rehome his dog due to his circumstances and I'm going to be taking him on. For note the dog is just turned 2. I currently have an 11 month old bitch at home who's well established in her environment and I'm looking for pointers as to help the intro go as smooth as possible. Im taking my bitch with me to pick him up so they'll be walked together and I can see how they get along at the off, but once we're back home, are there any pointers anyone's got to make sure things go nice and smooth? TIA.

So, it turns out I've caught the lurcher bug... my bitch had her first season nay too long ago and even if we're some way off, it's kick started me thinking about what to cross her with. She's mostly whippet with a wee bit of collie and grey in her grandparents. Has the makings of a good daytime dog and we've not long started training on the lamp where she's thriving. The obvious go to might be a beddy whip but does anyone run similar dogs x'd with saluki x's? Something about watching a sand slug x run, reet does it for me and I cant help think the two would make a stella dog.

I thought similar so I'm gonna ask for a written commendation of sorts, but I feel like the dogs success alone isn't the issue and it's more about the fact that, in their words "its rather barbaric to use a dog". ? -
I live at a huge marina and for the past month or so, my bitch has been nailing at least one rabbit almost every other night as we take a wander around the field. After bagging 3 in one pass round last night, I thought today I'd do right by the land owner and ask for permission to run the dog proper, as they clearly have a bigger problem than I'd noticed and I'd be happy to oblige. Nice to read people not writing full whippets off for running a hare. Some of the best coursing I've seen was a bitch bred out of a coursing x racing whippet. Thing stands at 20" on a good day but legs them long ears like its life depends on it.

Tell ya what I've learnt more than anything reading this thread? Racists are f***ing everywhere and humanity is damn lacking. The bitch was 1/4 grey, 1/4 collie, 1/2 whippet. Sire same again but bred down once more with a whippet. For all intent and purpose she's mostly whippet with some kickback genes. Stands at about 22" TTS. Was advertised as a "norfolk lurcher" but that means f**k all nowadays and the breeder was reminded as such, haha. She did come from Norfolk mind, haha.
