True words,...same as them poor old Dinasaurs,..adapt, accept change,... or become extinct.... However,.moving forwards and changing your lifestyle, doesn't always have to be a bad thing.... Still love the dogs, and really enjoy seeing my mates jukels, but the passion for the hunt has diminished.

Both nice honest jukels,...but sadly,.. both products,...of a well calculated and carefully planned advertising campaign

Walked out with both the above 3/4 Breds.....it was,...emotional....

Well, I hope you are right...

Yes Tats, it is a good quote,..and very applicable to that bygone time... I've not been gifted with the skills to pen such romantic prose,...but I can give you my own take on the situation, Circa 2024...and one would have to say, "The game, as we once knew it, is FECKED,...and I do mean, proper FECKED"....

I occasionally find myself grappling with waves of regret when contemplating the countless photographs lost to the relentless march of time—precious memories callously snatched away. A profound sense of loss envelops me. Yet, in those moments, I summon the strength to shake my head, exhale, and attribute it all to the capricious hand of fate. The undeniable truth is that my mindset has undergone a profound transformation, prompting me to consider that perhaps this loss, painful as it may be, is ultimately for the best. Nevertheless, I empathize deeply with the joy and satisfaction th

WELL,..this thread (the first one with any real substance, for many a long year) just goes to show,..how very different we all are It is this incredible divergence, in both thought, deed and lurcher type, that has made the running dog world, so unique. Long may it continue...

Proper fronts on them dawgs

Lamping often allows you to go,..where you dare not go....

Feck the Fallow,...our dogs were never up to the task.... The only chance we ever had,.. was after the Rut,...other than that , feck'em... Just too big, too strong, and nothing but trouble.....

Obsessed,...yeah that is the word,...cannot thiink of a better one really I've spent most of my life, using dogs to hunt various quarry,...and for many years I have suffered pangs of conscience. Not so much , due to the sheer quantity of game that I have killed, but more so, because I felt that I had wasted my life. However,..when I put things into perspective, and consider matters logicaly, I now know that I did, what I was supposed to do, I had no other choice really,...it is, what it is....and now, for the first time in many years, I am at peace.....

Hi,..I've always found the genuine first cross to simply be the starting point, to any hybridisation,..so,.I've usualy tried to improve the original, by utilising a similar type...It is not always a success, but you pretty soon know where ya went wrong. The important thing is to learn by your mistakes...
-
Personaly,...I like ALL the various lurcher types Mind you, I do have a fancy for them old Sheepdog hybrids

I reckon this is one of the best Oz hybrids that we produced...

Well,..it all sounds a bit on the brutal side to me,....I'll just stick to them old conies,...I know my limits
-
Yeah,..I could see the potential of this hybrid as a rabbiting aid,...several decades ago.... These are good hearted jukels, but you always have to be realistic in your expectations of them.. They are, what they are, and as long as ya keep this in mind,..they will do just fine

I guess he is still mouching around,.. somewhere,...facts are, like many things in life, he is an aquired taste

Les was a good guy,...really knew the game

Photography is great fun.. I was getting quite into it....and then suddenly,.. my mind-set changed
-
Hmm,..personaly,...I like to read about any hunting man's adventures,...my own days in the sun are well and truly over,..so it's always good to hear what other enthusiasts are up to... I've been around the minor field sports scene for decades, and one only has to look at the scarcity of contributors on the various hunting related Internet Forums, and indeed in the sporting press, to realise that our chosen way of life is becoming smaller and smaller... I think that I had the best of it....

All's I know is,...Terrierwork is a real hard old game....
-
Magnificent critters....
-
Sad tale FUJI and that is why I never took to the Terrier job,...it really can be 'life and death'.... I've hunted with some well known names, and seen some cracking dirt dawgs,...but I've never been tempted to take a pup. ALL Hunting can be dangerous,..and heartbreaking, but it's something that every genuine hunting man has to come to terms with,..OR,..get out of the fecking game.... I've had a lifetime of stress, excitement, sadness and joy.... Back in the day,...my mind set was different,.. and my passion for the chase override the sorrow. Now,..I see things slight

Good luck to them all,..it's a hard old life being a shushi
