If the land is hilly and you are lamping and ferreting rabbits then personally i would go for a collie/greyhound, paying particular attention to the type of collie used........They should have better feet and constitution. Also the ammount of rabbits will influence the type of dog, if the land has large numbers then stamina will also be a requirement.......

The number of earths on permission can vary greatly, i had 500 acres of permission for 8 years and all it contained was a couple of rabbit warrens that never held and a two holed earth, in contrast mates have permission that have in excess of 20/30 earths in less than 100 acres.......

Millet, they are superb for grooming, i got one when they first came out, at that time they were £45 so that price is a bargain. You can go over a dog with a regular kit thinking its good, then use a furminator and the ammount of hait that is taken off is amazing......

Matching is a load of ++++++ ,as there are far to many variables .Dog A could be as fast as fook .Dog B could be as nimble as fook .Now lets take this scenerio Dog A+B are both running legitimate quarry Dog A runs like fook and turns the quarry into the path of dog B,who catches the quarry .We could have the second scenerio,Dog B runs the quarry ragged into the jaws of Dog A .Now who is the winner of this so called matching??.Many scinetific field reports ,claim that two dogs running on the same quarry hold up to 20%of their ability back,for fear of a collision .Now unless your matchin

Ray, some good ideas, one thing i would say is many smaller shows put on far too many classes which spreads the dogs too thinly. Some activity for the kids, ferret racing has been mentioned, racing depending on the location. One thing that rarely gets mentioned is dog shit, its really boils my piss when morons let there dogs shit all over the place, don't pick it up and kids get it all over there shoes and clothes, i'd glady rub the dirty fuckers face in it, the owners not the kids...........but thats just me
