    Army life??

Typical f#cking crap hat reply from you my truth challenged friend. Yes Raider I was a Para once upon a time, no offence to Snap Shot but don't believe what the recruiters tell you too much, they'll say anything to get you in, but as I said once you are in the mainstream army, you virtually lead a normal life apart from when you are away in some shit hole of a place lying in the rain waiting to be shot at. Give it a go mate, makes men out of most lads, but Stab's failed this part, I have actually seen him squat to p#ss. Just remember that there are many, many different jobs to be had i
  2. Flytie I am just about to google that book, sounds interesting. Cheers

    Army life??

Unless your away on exercises or operations it is basically like any other day to day job, you are free to go as you please as long as you turn up to work on time. You can be required at times to be on call, which is basically being able to show up within a certain period, generally within hours.
  6. Just wondering if anyone could advise me on shot sizes for pheasant, my only real experience with shotguns is with SG's for use on boar. Any info greatly appreciated. Cheers
  7. G'day Luke, sounds like all is going well with Roo then, how about a few more pics. Its his Bull nature mate, he wants to have a tussle that's all, just continue with what you are doing, prising it out of his jaws and heaping the praise on, he will soon realize what needs to be done with the rabbit, they are fast learners. Perhaps offer him the rabbits head or kidneys, heart and liver at time of dressing the rabbit. You really got yourself a goodun there. Cheers
  8. John I am looking at updating my digital at the moment, the Panasonic Lumix FZ 18 seems to fit the bill nicely and can be picked up for a great price on the net. It fits my criteria very well, good zoom, high mega-pixels, optical image stabilizer, small and simple to use. Everyone I have spoke to that has a Lumix swears by them. Get the highest optical zoom you can and along with high mega-pixels you will get great photos. Check out the link. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-FZ18K-...5531&sr=1-1
  9. Google ALICE pack, they are a US military pack with an external frame that can be removed from the pack, you can then attach a carcass to this, whatever you go with though, if carried for any period nothing will be comfortable.

A corker, reminds me of Stab's when he gets kitted up.
  11. Good luck FH, hope to see some pics.
  12. good to hear, I rate Hatton as a true sportsman
  13. Forget about them mate, blokes do use them here, as a cross, the only thing they add is size, which is neutralised because they are heartless, straight up mate they are useless.
  14. Great stuff mate, the members advice was of some great use, I bet your pleased.
  15. Cheers Martin, the bullet certainly held together didn't it.
  16. At least you got the deer mate, what calibre and make of projectile?
  17. Stick with a reputable brand of bullets and/or check that your firing pin isn't dodgy.
  18. Nice one Kiwi, I just bought some pheasants for breeding, love that last pic, keep em coming.
  19. Hi John, I had a Winchester .30/30 a number of years ago and to be honest it wasn't that well finished, Marlin are the way to go in my opinion, they do some model lever guns with a pistol grip, they are a great looking outfit.
  20. Can be a frustrating exercise at times, perhaps set up some cushions and place the forend of the rifle on them making sure it is fully supported in a plumb position, then get behind the weapon and try to get your vertical crosshair plumb with a true vertical target line that you have setup in front of the weapon, you can also do a primitive bore sight at the same time. Remember though, that when you shoulder the rifle that you need to make sure you are not canting it in the shoulder.
  21. SS it is something I don't really understand, I have been told by the boffins that this is what happens, I honestly didn't really agree with them, but who am I too argue with their testing and the like. They use this as the reasoning why the M4 has trouble 'finishing' targets outside 100 metres, they say the 5.56 loses to much velocity out of the short barrel at this range, and as it doesn't turn 180 it does very little damage as opposed to a faster travelling bullet, but in my experience a rapidly travelling 'non mushrooming' projectile never causes bulk damage, they all seem to punch straigh
