  1. Oh shucks Phil....I hope you get that crack fixed. Don't lose the piece of wood Phil! ?
  2. My muzzleloaders and Tula sxs also has them V spring thingies. I didna realize I had such high end guns ?
  3. I'm waiting for two favourite fields to come off. Good stalking Luke?
  4. I touched a mains one and woke up 10 minutes later from my spaniel licking my face. I knew the time it happened and in a confused state checked the time, I had been unconscious for 10minutes. I know a farmer that checks his fences by just getting hold of the wire. Recons if your quick it's not so bad! Lune!! I use to shot fox's on a pig unit. They had a wretched multi strand fence around the whole unit/s. I have observed a few times foxes listening to the pulses and in the blink of the eye shoot through the fence unscathed !
  5. Phil, I couldn't possibly tell here what I have taken with air rifles! Crack on feller ?
  6. Been all around rifles for a few decades. 17Rem, 22Hx3, 222x3, 223, 6mmx3, 6.5mm, 30/30x3, 308x2. 357m. Reloaded the lot. Do I shoot less now I just have two rimfires (excluding deer)? No! So in other words I don't get stressed about calibre's. I use to. Waste of time though.
  7. Fairweather did ok today. Nothing fancy. Just a 100yd crow and another about 75yds. Bearing in mind this rifle has replaced my unsilenced 22 it's making easy work of what would of been an hour's stroll with the 22! The Winchester 20gn ammo was used.
  8. Deer are hard work. I don't miss it at all. I would take one now though because it's been a few years but if pressure was on me to keep them down it would soon become a royal pain in zee bum.
  9. Thank you mate ?. If I could have my way I would hunt deer with muzzloaders and archery gear too. The times I have hunted deer, Fallow, red and roe have all been the most exciting when I can nearly reach and touch them so hunting them with traditional old gear would be the cherry on the cake for me.
  10. I thought the very same thing mate. In fact most of the nitro shot birds I have been surprised just how little lead I used! Bloody modern guns! Glad when these fads die off ?
  11. Lamped last night in some cut grass but saw nowt but hares which is good news! I may of nobbled one of my lamp shys! My pigeon shooting this summer is mediocre to say the least! No streams of birds on flight lines this year so far so decoying has been very random! And let's not mention not so good shooting on my part with nitro guns....so today I broke down and perrrchased a pigeon bouncer and prized my doubled barreled 12g muzzleloader out of the cabinet. Wow, still not many birds but I've hardly missed! I shoot this better than anything modern! And I get black and smell of farts! T
  12. I was wondering how the birds were doing after that rain mate! An old sheep farmer use to say to me regarding fox " keep em down, keep em down" ?
  13. Just looking at the back of that truck and it's contents can you imagine the country side when the anti lead freaks and vegans have won. Spring watch will be called crow watch hosted by special needs host...... Autumn watch will be called badger and crow watch presented by the vegan society of unGreat Britain. Where's that archery catalogue...
  14. Leaving it cocked while hunting won't harm nothing....a week maybe but not a days hunting.
  15. I'm looking forward to going out with the WMR just to get another comparison after weeks of being idle. I like the idea of 20g HMR loadings. I know everyone says it doesn't expand the same but I'm ok with that. I want to know I'm getting full penetration, preferably two holes. I don't care if stuff runs a little, if I have raked it's middle it's going to die. In calling this rifle Fairweather it's not strictly fair. It's still better than LR in wind. In fact the only place so far I have cause for complaint is that the slightest whisp of foliage knackers the bullets path. Ok, tha
  16. Fairweather went through some more trials this weekend. Went onto the Winchester 20g ammo. Everything was going well except for misfires! To many for half a box, five so far! Shame really otherwise I would if been tempted to stick with them. I did take a crow at something like 170yards with one and a rabbit at 100ish with just it's head showing. However, with the miss fires I won't bother again! Hornady 20g up next.
  17. I ain't going to argue but after seeing two deer get jawed it ain't for me. Across the ribs every time.
  18. Which one is the Nikon si? I have a beat up old 2-7 and it is fantastic. I doubt you will be disappointed. Yes, everything looks brown through a Leopold including the reticle!
  19. Think on of my neighbours takes them in off the RSPCA. My neighbor the other side tells me to shoot them off her bird feeders. I have a trap running too. #25 fell Friday. That's in two months. Just got to wait for the white van drop some more off ?
  20. I had a meopta years ago. 7x50 IIRC. Steel tube! Good optically but the blooming thing let moisture in somehow ?
