  1. So you could move in on a fox without flashing a red or amber torch?
  2. Cooty and Dave, those are very kind offers, much appreciated. I will decline incase I damaged one but very touched gents. I understand the quality issue but let's be clear I don't want to see it's whiskers at range. I just want to identify it, keep a tab on it location and move closer. I don't want to shoot via it really just get closer and take the shot conventionally. Is this feasible?
  3. Bit much Gav ? Are these any good for shotgun work? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nightfox-Widescreen-Rechargeable-Recording-Infrared/dp/B078HGJK3Y
  4. Ok so I light a fox up in the distance at night and start moving in. If I switch to night vision so I don't need to light it up what do I need and will it cost much more than £20?
  5. Can't see how the decoys will work there buddy and besides, shouldn't you be driving a grain trailor around?
  6. Sure. The 30g are fine, it's a toss up between 30&40's for me. Happy with both These 50's are drillers with little to no expansion. They are a little quieter mind.
  7. Yes sir my trusty WMR was out tonight for the first time in yonks. Those 50 grainers sure know how to handle savage charging squirrels. Five down tonight all head shot. My dog owns one, she spotted it while I was oblivious to it's imminent attack!
  8. Always fancied a #1 Ruger but not now. The nice thing about 22-250 from a barrel Ife thing is in the UK field where usually single shots are all that is required it generates enough heat which helps to keep not only the bore free of condensation but any moderator too. The only other thing apart from throat erosion if not new I would look for is bedding and barrel clearance in the stock channel. It is an intense round, any of the 22 CF above hornet are but the 250 especially so and anything other than a bull barrel need some room to flex and whip. The slightest contact and bang goes t
  9. That's interesting.....what constitutes "crappy" 22-250 ammo please?
  10. Yes, it could be claimed I got the idea off him too. It's the only way to process woodies I think...that or burgers!
  11. Took the little 410 today and got a few real close birds. I was stood in a willow covered stream on the edge of a barley field and horses behind me. The silence of the 410 is handy, not for the horses but for their miserable owners! Anyway love the 410 ?
  12. From what I've seen of them....err no!
  13. Thanks, the coat is a little big for me though, cheeky.
  14. I used deer as an example. All I am expressing is that any application or variation is not dependant on a log by law. I voicing my concern that the police are inducing extra rules that are not in law. Besides, they won't read it anyway! If one wishes to keep a log do it for yourself. Atb.
  15. They help with the scaring process.
  16. .....are brill. Especially for scaring woodpigeon! Pigeon everywhere and so fast. Really testing to scare them it was. I used a belt full of cartridges to scare them off barley today but unfortunately I got my scaring a little wrong on a few shots but not to worry I can make a meatloaf and enough dog food for a couple of days
  17. The law is that you only need to provide a good reason to posses a rifle. There is no mention of a journal or log required. Just how would one keep a record of deer shot with out any deer shot because one does not yet have a deer qualifying rifle! Just nod and smile buddy then wave goodbye.
  18. Ohhh, you don't mean as in burning logs then
  19. It's a Marlin 990 made between 79&87 or there abouts.
  20. Fed up with crop scaring and was craving a 22 session so when the rain stopped dog and me went for a walk with the 22. Took a rested shot at a dark varmint, must of been just over 100yds and when it's buddy landed to investigate I got that too! Only seen three squirrels today and two of them fell. One fanged my dog in its final moments, fair do I guess. She is to dumb to put a good crunch in first!
