  1. While our laws are dumb yes we are not restricted to a 22 at first. Where most go wrong with our system is they ask if they can have etc. The licensing department take that as it is not required! We have to give a good reason to posses any rifle. As long as we write down a good reason it will be granted within reason. Shotguns shall be granted to the applicant. Although they (the licencing authority) don't like it any citizen in the UK is entitled to a shotgun licence sans serious criminal activities/history.
  2. You can have this one if you come and fetch it mate?
  3. No you narna. I'm shocked Meece. They are not bores but gauges tut tut! It's a 12g and still a 12g. It is also an AYA so Spanish junk like my zabala Spanish junk. That aside, I do have a weired thing for old Russians. An old USSR made sxs hammer gun keeps beckoning me down the local.
  4. So why is it ok for a heron to not be vegan and pond owners to restore with fish knowingly for their destruction but I'm an evil hunter that should be stopped? Ever likely he has a brain issue....he's passing it on to me now! ?
  5. Don't be daft, I love all British tits.
  6. .....this one just cracked me up ?
  7. My old mate Steve Jones of Trent Firearms died several months ago. He was an RFD and operated from his converted garage. Spent many a late hour with him until his Mrs would moan at him bless her. It was an Aladdin's cave for reloaders and rifle shooters. Didn't do shotguns. He would save many a hand in for me to err dispose of safely. Honest straight talking man, sometimes to rightous but I respected him.
  8. Do you get many helicopters up your way Gav? How about a 20or30 mm Mauser, do boats then as well!
  9. My only concern is if you get an argumentative fool turn up and starts to argue with you over something stupid! Your gonna have to fit a booth or something that you can lock them in for an hour mate until you or them have calmed down some. Straitening a barrel from around someone's neck is a real pain of a job I can tell ya! Go for it mate ?. They will advise you and up there they may just ask you to fit a lock on the front door!
  10. Are you sure Phil? Most other forums hate me so how do you get away with it. ?
  11. I would of let it go too mate, no meat on them what so ever!
  12. You say that but the guidelines say to deter any request for a muzzloader rifle for hunting. However there's no law specifically prohibiting their use for hunting. No logical reasoning seems to get through on the subject. No sense in it at all. It's a white wash rule to stop heavy muzzloaders being miss used but it could be easily controlled via a spread sheet of the various types, as are breech loaders are.
  13. Luck had nothing to do with it thank you. ?
  14. Old keeper mate of mine retired is still snaring and cage trapping them now in his eighties. His cage is huge....he got caught in it last year and had to wait for his Mrs to come looking for him ?
  15. Nothing wrong with 270 or a Parker Hale. Friend of mine used a 270 for decades. Rabbits at silly distances, fox's at long distances, roe and red. Think his longest red was over 400yds just north of loch Dochart.
  16. Hornet is so versatile if you reload. I use to slow it down to wmr performance and use 45g fmj bullets from S&B. It goes for ages on a pound of powder. I use to fill the case with slower powders than normal hornet speed powders. H322 never got up high pressure like shotgun powders can all of a sudden!! No messed up rabbits and no splattered heads but way better filling an order for the game dealer on a blustery night.
  17. If I had to only have one rifle out of my 22 and the wmr I think I would have to keep the WMR. Ok I wouldn't plink as much but the ammo cost for 22's would buy a lot of wmr so I would still be able to practice and an air rifle is always ready for practice and low power work.
  18. I had 30/30, 308 and 357 just for fox on my license. You have to give a good reason. I did and got what needed/wanted.
  19. Looking a lot better now but I'm going to have to watch this gun. SD.
  20. ....is produced when you fire you gun of any type! Here is a photo of a gun chamber fired in a clean state, on a dry warm day for 26 shots. The rust has only come from vapours of water released on combustion condensing on the cooler chamber wall! Some treatment. Boiling water to dissolve any possible salts. Wirewool mop and 600grit mop.
  21. Paid work. Infestation of disease carrying corvids getting in and on cow grub. Not good. The payment went towards some more access to pheasants in winter?. Didn't want to knock the double about in a farm yard setting so I took a single. 26/16, not bad for me. Still smell the farm yard on me or is that just how I smell ! Man this forum is buggy!
  22. Blow your nose first before that shot!
  23. Blow your nose next time before you take that shot!
