  1. Just tried to watch it on C4's websited, got about 10 mins in before i couldnt bear the f*cking halfwit they used as a narrator any more, where do they get these people from?!?!?!
  2. Seems lke hes coming on well, i dont blame you for avoiding the skunks though!
  3. Thats the one, worth every penny
  4. That would be good although we are only a quarter of the way down that hedge line so theres plenty to go at there. Never did get as far as those open buries we were aiming for but they will be there for next time
  5. i have a mini shovel, less than a tenner from screwfix and, imo, the dogs bollocks Used all sorts garden spade, graft, folding shovel but this is by far the best! The pics not the best but you get the idea, very short, heavy duty but light weight. Perfect for nice tight holes down to about 4 - 5 foot deep, which is about my maximum dig when ferreting anyway.
  6. Well done Sonic and Pops Those grey foxes are funny little critters, do they put up much of a fight compared to the reds? You guys have a good range of small predators to go at over there, do you run your dogs on opposums, racoons etc too? i assume you give skunks a wide berth
  7. Thanks for your replies guys There really was some heat in the sun today, it was -2 degrees first thing but but half ten we both had our jackets off! jonny09 - i got £1.50 each gutted but not skinned, round here most butchers take them, just not all the time, what you get for them varies too Hotdog - it looks like i will have plenty of time in the near future so i'd be happy to go out sometime, just text me
  8. rest of the pics, both dogs got badly stung feet on the evil new nettle growth thats already started, hence the miserable end of day shot!
  9. i thought i would get out with the ferrets today, Tyla is finally able to get out after her most recent injury and i have run out of work so now got plenty of time on my hands . My mate came along to give me a hand too. We did a big old bank first, all covered in dead nettles and riddled with holes. Got 8 out of there, 1 in the longnet, 1 dug and the rest purse netted. We then went along a thick old blackthorn hedge and did it section by section, ended up with 14 more, 1 dug and the rest in the purse nets. its so much easier now the dogs are back, due to the nature of the ground and the
  10. As above, just come back from house hunting in ireland to hear that our new start has not happened, im gutted. Been having a look about today and dosent seem to be anything else about. Bugger!!!! Off ferreting tomorrow to cheer myself up, i spose the upside is that i'll have plenty of time for hunting now Anyway, if anyone in sussex needs any carpentry doing i am now available
  11. Well done mate, thats a good bag Nothing wrong with taking your bird either, mine has got her own dog. Much better than having them nag about you being out all the time!
  12. Well done mate You'll be hooked forever now!
  13. is it? my cast shot are about 10mm in diameter and i believe LG is about 9.2mm and SG 8.4mm, i thought what im losing in weight i might gain in accuracy as they are machine cast? Sporting shooter - that would be great. PM on the way Paul L. - PM on the way too
  14. Thanks stubby, i posted rather than sending PMs as i think its a bit pushy emailing people you dont know and asking for favours. On an open thread no one need feel obligated to answer or put themselves out. i've done the search a few times and there are some pics but no actual sizes. i think i've sussed it though based on the picture of yours hung up in your shed Maybe i will do some pics when i get round to making mine with some sizes on and put a thread up about it. There do seem to be loads of people asking the same question
  15. Sporting Shooter - you will probably laugh but i want to use them as ammunition for my catapult to see how the fare against home cast shot i use now Paul L - Thats a very kind offer, are they cartridges or loose shot? it would seem a waste to ruin the cartridges just for the shot?
  16. im looking for a source of either LG, SSG or SG shot. Any ideas?
  17. Thanks, the two in the pics are Parker, my fiances JRTxWhippet, and Ollie, border x something i also have a bitsa lurcher bitch, Tyla, but she is still being lead walked while she gets over her most recent injury so didnt appear in the pics
  18. i have just been searching the forum for the above but havent found any. i have my quickset in a bodged up bag so i would like to make a proper basket but not have to make countless prototypes until i get all the sizes right! Would it be possible for someone to post some plans, dimensions or pictures up for me and maybe get them pinned at the top of the page for everyone else? Thank you
  19. A few inches at home but i was working in tunbridge wells today and they had a fair bit. Not a bad thing though, got off work early to avoid getting stuck and went for a couple of hours mouch . There are some pics i put up on another thread. Have you been out much? i've been out with the ferrets but had both lurchers laid up for the last few weeks We must get out one day before the end of the season
  20. Go down one day and cut back the brambles etc etc then leave it to rest for a few days to a week then go back and ferret it, if that's all that is there thats all you can ferret you don't really have a choice if theres nothing else about, Me personally I would go for it but many others would just walk away. Thanks lad but what about the fact that it would be un diggable? would you just take the risk and if they stay to ground just wait it out? it would have to be pretty bad to be undiggable. You can get through most roots with the right tools, one of my permissions is reclaimed l
  21. Shes looking good. Hows her foot, healed up yet?
  22. Have a look on ebay mate. i have a couple of traps and caught loads last summer. The quality of the traps is variable though so probably best not to go for the very cheapest. Good luck
