  1. Glad you put that on, I never used to double up the dogs but have done it lately, so thanks as that's a reminder of what can happen. Even experienced hunters need reminding now and then! glad your dog was ok mate.
  2. Its easy to make up a good chain which won't twist, Just get a chain of suitable length / strength. Use a link coupler from Diy shop to connect the chain to an old dog lead with metal clasp (cut the strap off) which will allow swivel, (be aware of the length of chain as if your dog can jump any fence close by he will be hung, it happens!!!).
  3. If you have been feeding the same food then it could be a case of food is having the same appeal even once digested (Especially if feeding all in one dry food) . Change or add a variety of food to the diet. (add pineapple chunks to the food this can put them of eating there mess) and clean up asap as this can break the habit, if its not in the run she cant eat it.
  4. Had a dog which would catch a rabbit and run to the middle of the field and drop the rabbit whilst still live, then she would feck of one way across the field and the rabbit would be of in another! would not see her for ten minutes, Some dogs will not make the grade, no matter who trains em. at least your not selling her on as 100% ,lol.
  5. I cant see em giving you a lift back to Dublin when they hear you shoutin "go on that black dog" lol
  6. alright mush ya still huntin

  7. It is good that a child can control a dog like the one in the vid clip. But if kids were to be walking around with dogs that are trained in this way (protection trained) you can bet a lot of kids would be showing off to there mates and someone would get hurt!! There are Enough kids walking the streets with there staff/bull-cross to protect them selfs and look hard, Youngsters should not be allowed out with potential dangerous dogs, Even trained ones.
  8. I had a great rough coated dog a few years ago, "light fawn in colour, it never made any difference to his catching ability !! But you would see him a mile away, so if out poaching and it got on top this would not be the best dog to be sneaking of in to the darkness with.
  9. David Hancock's would be the man to ask as this type of breding is his game, (not saying he breeds great colly greyhounds as the ones Ive seen have not been the best, but some swear by his breeding) I'm sure its sire Colly, and greyhound dam would be the preferred method of breeding
  10. What do you think of it, you probably have seen it more than we have !
  11. A few years ago there used to be lots of dogs straying around the streets, old mongrel types mainly, but I'm surprised a game dog of this breed would be unsupervised, and would be allowed to let Rome around, Was ya not worried about it getting pinched? as well as what it could have done if a child was walking his/her dog in the same area and the dogs were to fight, It must have crossed someone's path to get beaten like this, Sorry for your loss, shame if someone gets away with doing that to your dog. good luck in finding them
  12. Thanks mate, I will be collecting a live trap soon after Christmas, and have put ply board over slats for now so fox will not be able to grab his dinner, but it will make cleaning the run a bit of a pain in mean time,
  13. This is very true, you would usualy see a masacre in a chicken pen, foxes dont just take one for the pot normaly. And remember with a live trap you still have to have a legal means of dispatch. (To make sure your coverd) we all kno what happend to that guy that drowned a squirell. .atb. .ste. If he could get at them all Ive no doubt all would be dead! The hens walk out of the housing on to a raised floor/slats,2ft of the ground, The fox gets under them and must pull the odd one threw the slats, Once the run is moved on to a slabbed/paved area A fox will not be able to get under the ru
  14. Thanks for the offer but hope to deal with it soon if i get a snare or live trap, if i have no luck ill send pm as to were i am, 60-70 mile from gloucester though, Thanks again
